W. Lewis, Sep 14, 2004. Jerry W. Lewis Guest No, but you can use the relationship between erf and statistical distributions to fake it. erf(x) = GammaDist(x^2,0.5,1,True) so erfinv(p) = Sqrt(GammInv(p,0.5,1))
Erfinv Excel
erfc(x) = ChiDist(2*x^2,1) so erfcinv(p) = Sqrt(ChiInv(p,1)/2) The ChiDist function is much more inverse erfc calculator accurate for large x than the ATP erfc function. The Inv functions are useless for p's associated with x > 3.5

Erf Function Excel
Inverse Erfc The inverse erf function is the inverse function of such that (1) with the first identity holding for and the second for . http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/re-include-inverse-error-function-erfinv-and-erfcinv-in-excel.1766673/ It is implemented in the Wolfram Language as InverseErfc[z]. It is related to inverse erf by (2) It has the special values (3) (4) (5) It has the derivative (6) and its indefinite integral is (7) (which follows from the method of Parker 1955). The Taylor series about 1 is http://mathworld.wolfram.com/InverseErfc.html given by (8) (OEIS A002067 and A007019). If x is the mean and y is the std dev I know that CI=(x-ny,x+ny), inverse error function where n=sqrt(2)*inverseERF(CI). I tried to make a vba function to calculate the invERF, but I'm off by a bit. Does anyone know of an existing invERF funcion? I can't find actual code for one anywhere. Thanks, Pete Share Share this post on Digg Del.icio.us Technorati Twitter Reply With Quote Nov 16th, 2006,01:31 PM #2 Andrew Poulsom MrExcel MVPModerator Join Date Jul 2002 Posts 73,092 There are ERF and ERFC functions in the Analysis ToolPak, but I don't know if those are what you want. There is also a CONFIDENCE function. If, however, you really need to compute the value of the invERF there is a small code (posted by JJ 05-18-06 09:20). It is in Pascal and so should be very easy to port to vba. The name of the function is invErf http://les-mathematiques.u-strasbg.f...86277&t=286277 Hope this helps PGC Share Share this post on Digg Del.icio.us Technorati Twitter Reply With Quote Nov 17th, 2006,01:34 PM #4 pete6982
