Join Now Hello, I have a few people pcl xl error subsystem kernel error illegal tag operator on Windows 7 pro x64 and when trying to connect to our HP Color LaserJet 3600 hosted on a pcl xl error illegal tag operator 0x77 position 5 Windows Server 2003 x32 server I get the error Operation failed with error 0x0000007e. I've tried many things. I installed the HP_CLJ3600_64bit_HB drivers on the server. I tried adding the printer as

a local printer using a tcp/ip port and manually pointing to the above driver. I tried adding the printer as local using a Local Port and the HP driver I tried this command: net use LPT2 \\server\printer /persistent:yes I tried a hotfix from Microsoft 412895_intl_x64_zip.exe which said my system did not apply though it looks like it should. Nothing has worked. Any ideas? Thanks Reply pcl xl error illegal tag opendatasource Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: HP Color Laserjet 4700: 59.30 error Printing issues with HP Color Laserjet M476dn HP Color Laserjet CP1215   1 2 Next ► 32 Replies Cayenne OP Vee.Hexx Jul 11, 2011 at 1:41 UTC we too have this issue, but it's on a 2008r2 server (RDS), and a 2008 print server. the error occurs on the RDS server when users try to add the printer. we're testing a few things to try and eliminate the issue, so far this is what we've found: - restarting the spooler service on the 2008r2 server allows the user to add the printer. - we changed the drivers on 2008r2 to 'isolated' mode (not sure if 2003 allows this). to soon to tell if this has fixed, but it SEEMS to of reduced the rate of occurance. - we've built a new print server (from 2008sp1, to 2008r2) that appears to be a whole lot better interacting with the print service. adding new drivers are from 10-15mins, to 30seconds. printer settings also appear to be alot quicker. admin side speed seems 10 times better, we're yet to have user experiences on
