(Paul_A_Clark) Sep 24, 2008 11:39 AM (in response to (Paul_A_Clark)) Crazy! Wasn't saving to a server, but to a 2-gig jump drive. When I saved it to my mac's hard drive, no problem. Is there a short answer to why that happens? I didn't appear to be out of space on the external drive... Thanks Scott! paul Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. Re: Please Help!! NotInUse Sep 24, 2008 12:49 PM (in response to (Paul_A_Clark)) I can't say specifically, the File I/O error clearly indicates that Illustrator can't write to wherever you are asking it to write to. Could be a server without proper permissions, a jump drive formatted as NTFS, a Diskette that's full or locked, etc. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 5. Re: Please Help!! More about : adobe illustrator error message Best solution ThomasBens August 12, 2015 11:33:57 AM Hello! error illustrator Make next steps: 1. Log on to your computer and open Adobe Illustrator. If the program automatically saved any Illustrator files prior to the crash, those files will be listed in the Recently Used list. To see these files, click on the "File" menu and look at the bottom of the list. Highlight the file you were working on and attempt to open it. 2. See if you have any built-in parm error illustrator recovery tools on your system. McAfee, Symantec and other makers of antivirus protection often include file recovery tools in their full security suites. 3. Download a file recovery tool if you do not have one installed already. Many of these tools are freely available. Even many of the pay programs include a free trial period, so you can test them to see if they are able to recover your lost files. 4. Open the file recovery software and browse to the folder where your Adobe Illustrator files are saved. The file recovery package will automatically highlight the recoverable files. Click on those files and choose "Recover" from the menu. 5. Open Adobe Illustrator, open your recovered files and make sure they display correctly. Save a copy of the files to a separate location on your hard drive. This will give you a backup you can use if your computer crashes again. I know a lot of you guys use Adobe's Illustrator out there and I've got a real conflict going on so I hope someone can help.I have 2 Macs running CS. The laptop has suddenly developed this problem. I can create a new document or load an existing doc, work on it etc, but if I add any amount of text and attempt to save it I get firstly : 'an unknown error has occured', once I click 'OK' then I get 'Can't save preview, but all other information was saved. The file couldn't be found ID= -43'. Needless to say nothing gets saved.I had noticed something odd though. In the character palatte, while I could choose a font from the drop down menu, no chosen font name showed up in the box - that was the first indication that something was wrong. I've run fontdoctor on the fonts with no issues being reported. I've tried trashing the prefs, caches, repairing permissions, reinstalling - nothing helps. I've ruled out user issues by launching a second user and trying it in there - same problem. I really need to use illustrator on the laptop. Any help would be really appreciated. iMac 20", 2.1GHz, 250GB HD, 1.5GB ram, Mac OS X (10.4.7), iBook G4 1.33Ghz, Maxtor 200GB onetouch III, 2mb DSL, Linksys WRT54G wifi Posted on Sep 15, 2006 2:43 AM I have this question too Close Q: Can't save illustrator docs anymore!!
