your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now My workstation is Win 7 Pro SP1 and I regularly RDP to servers and PCs on the LAN - a mixture of Win 7, Win2k3, Win2k8 and Win2k8 R2. Been doing this happily for years. For the last few rdp because of an error in data encryption windows 7 weeks I'm plagued with sessions either failing to connect or dropping out with this error: --------------------------- Remote remote desktop connection because of an error in data encryption windows 7 Desktop Connection --------------------------- Because of an error in data encryption, this session will end. I've researched it and remote desktop error in data encryption windows 7 keep coming across a suggestion to delete some specific registry entries - but I don't have them anyway. This could cause issues with the authentication and in turn authentication. 2 Chipotle OP Mark8081 Aug 7, 2013 at 8:47 UTC Good call - I've been caught out before where access was completely denied to a non-Windows NAS due to a clock error. For the machines in question, though, whenever I've looked the because of an error in data encryption this session will end xp client and remote machine clocks agree to the minute. For the one I'm connected to at the moment (a Win2k3 server that booted me off twice this morning), my PC is about 6 seconds behind the server. I think the time difference has to be pretty large before it causes a problem? 0 Serrano OP J-Bird Aug 7, 2013 at 8:51 UTC Yes, usually about 5 minutes or more difference will cause an issue. 0 Jalapeno OP ralph.pickering Aug 7, 2013 at 9:21 UTC I've come across this where the issue turned out to be a NIC driver. As it's just started happening and the common denominator seems to be your Win7 workstation, I'd look to see if the driver has been updated, perhaps via Windows updates. Either roll it back, or see if there is a manufacturer update for the card, as Windows Update usually sucks at drivers. 1 Chipotle OP Mark8081 Aug 7, 2013 at 9:49 UTC My Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller driver's not been updated since 2009 and according to Dell that's the latest. There may be a later one available from Broadcom but I'm struggling to identify exactly which BCM57xx model I have. 0 Jalapeno OP techyogi Aug 7, 2013 at 10:28 UTC I had same issues..and turned out to be issue with PCI slot NIC card I was using. I updated the driver and issue went away 0 Chipotle OP Spopinski Aug 7, 2013 at 10:36 UTC http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/1fe7892c-36

This is the error I've been getting more and more frequently over the past few days, to the point that I can't ignore it because it's happening consistently within 5 minutes of connecting - sometimes within a few seconds. Both the remote and local machines are Windows 7 Pro x64. The remote machine is behind a Linksys RV082, and I'm using UPnP to forward a remote port to the correct local port. This setup had been working fine for several months, and error in data I can't think of any recent relevant changes that might have been made. Things I've already tried: Disabling unnecessary components of the network connection on the remote machine, until only IPv4 and Client for Microsoft Networks remain. Disabling TCP large send offload on both the remote and local machines. Confirming that the remote machine is not mentioned anywhere in any DMZ settings on the Linksys router. Confirming that there are no x509-related registry keys screwing things up (this is the suggested fix for a slightly different error anyway). These are the only solutions I've been able to find after about an hour of searching, and most of them apply to XP or Server 2003 in any case. If anyone could suggest something else, it would be much appreciated. windows-7 remote-desktop share|improve this question edited Jan 26 '11 at 21:17 BloodPhilia 21.3k66091 asked Jan 26 '11 at 21:03 rfrankel 121113 I had this happen to me a few months ago. I would only get disconnected a few times a day, not as often or as quickly as it sounds like you did. Looking forward to seeing if anybody has any info, although mine has been fine for at least a month now. –G_P Jan 26 '11 at 21:34 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote I have been researching this as well and I feel like I went down the same road is you since every fix applies to vista/xp.
