I have a Cisco router, configured to use AAA with a ASC server. There's no local username and password configured but there is an enable secret! I can log in via the console port just fine & enter en ok. But... if I telnet into the switch, I can authenticate as a user error in with lev 15 permissions, but if I try to enter en mode - get the following error: BEL-3750G-ServerRoom>en % Error in authentication. Do you have an enable password set? The first error in authentication one is obvious, but you can not get into enable mode over a vty without a password set. Either you have AAA turned on and no preference and types or you local password is jammed. You need to do a password recovery somehow, but this may be an issue with that range
