Nov 16, 2010 1:28 AM I get dimension errors around the board outline, part outlines and so on. Is it safe to ignore these errors since I could really care less if a trace is near a white outline that is basically part of the silk screen. 2734Views Tags: none (add) Reply This content has been marked as final. Creator: John Created: 2014-09-17 Updated: 2014-09-17 John - 2014-09-17 I need to join N. Hemi data with S. Hemi data. I used maximum possible error formula ncks --fix_rec_dmn to fix the time dimension, used ncks --mk_rec_dmn to make the row dimension into a record dimension, then ran ncpdq -U on both input files. I then ran ncrcat, ncrcat north.nc south.nc globe.nc It says, https://www.element14.com/community/thread/6866/l/dimension-errors?displayFullThread=true nco_err_exit(): ERROR Short NCO-generated message (usually name of function that triggered error): nco_put_vara() nco_err_exit(): ERROR Error code is -40. Translation into English with nc_strerror(-40) is "NetCDF: Index exceeds dimension bound" nco_err_exit(): ERROR NCO will now exit with system call exit(EXIT_FAILURE) Both input files have the exact same dimensions (204 time, 360 rows, 1440 cols). I'm attaching small sample input files that replicate the error. I'm using NCO 4.3.8. Thanks for whatever light you can https://sourceforge.net/p/nco/discussion/9829/thread/3cc5425e/ shed on this error... Last edit: John 2014-09-17 north10u.nc south10u.nc If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link: Charlie Zender - 2014-09-17 north.nc and south.nc are netcdf4 files where the record dimension is an inner dimension, not the first dimension like it would have to be with netcdf3. i incorrectly thought that when we implemented netcdf4 support for ncrcat we made it capable of joining such inner-record dimension files. yet i am looking at the code now and can see locations where we never eliminated the assumption that the record dimension is the first dimension. in any case, the workaround is as follows. forget your original procedure entirely. do something like this instead: ncpdq -a rows, time north.nc north.nc ncpdq -a rows, time south.nc south.nc ncrcat north.nc south.nc global.ne ncpdq -a time, rows globe.nc globe.nc This will autmatically handle the record dimension issues. You don't need ncpdq -U. cz If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link: John - 2014-09-17 Perfecto!
