Forum Posts Thread Starter Member Join Date Feb 2007 Posts 56 [RESOLVED] Element not found in TreeView Hi Guys! Would you help me please. I'm using a tree view to set up user privileges. Please attached form. After the form is unloaded and when I try to load it again, an "Element not found" error is encountered. What could possibly cause this problem? It comes and 3705 error in vb6 go but usually comes. This is my code => Code: cSQL = "Select * From OperatorTask" tsktbl.Open cSQL, adoConn, adOpenKeyset, adLockReadOnly If tsktbl.RecordCount > 0 Then Screen.MousePointer = vbHourglass msgbar "Loading", True Dim vImage As Integer tsktbl.MoveFirst While Not tsktbl.EOF vImage = tsktbl.Fields("fImage") If vImage = vOpenBook Then vImage = vCloseBook If tsktbl.Fields("fImage") = vUser Then Set nodx = frmSystemTask!TreeView1.Nodes.Add(, , Trim(tsktbl.Fields("fChild")), Trim(tsktbl.Fields("fText")), vImage) Else Set nodx = frmSystemTask!TreeView1.Nodes.Add(Trim(tsktbl.Fields("fParent")), tvwChild, Trim(tsktbl.Fields("fChild")), Trim(tsktbl.Fields("fText")), vImage) End If tsktbl.MoveNext Wend Save.Enabled = True Screen.MousePointer = vbDefault msgbar "", True End If tsktbl.Close The error will be encountered when it reach the highlighted line. Recordset sorting/order can be partially to blame. Recommend one of two things 1. Ensure parent records are always returned before child records, or 2. Check to see if the parent node exists before adding the child Insomnia is just a bypro

I use a recursive subroutine to populate the nodes. I have used the same technique in earlier versions of Access without issue. What seems to have changed is the Nodes.Add Method It behaves as if the Parent Node is not found in the Nodes collection. I used to be able to specify the parent node by https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/9b8dfe1e-05d3-49f3-b974-225ad4867641/treeview-control-error-while-adding-nodes-element-not-found?forum=accessdev name. It now seems to only work by index number. I did not keep track of the version of the TreeView from earlier versions. What are the specific differences between the versions of the TreeView Control 5.0(SP2) and 6.0(SP6)? What's the actual code that's failing, as well as the exact error message?Doug Steele, Microsoft Access MVP http://www.AccessMVP.com/djsteele (no e-mails, please!)
