52 ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_REDEFINITION", line 1646 Why do I see a ORA-12800 error? Answer:The dbms_redefinition uses a materialized view during the reorganization to manage the updates that occur while the table is being copied and re-named. In your case, the ORA-12008 error is a phantom error message, with your true error being the ORA-01555. The oerr utility show this on the ORA-12008 error: ORA-12008: error

in materialized view refresh path Cause: Table SNAP$_ reads rows from the view MVIEW$_, which is a view on the master table (the master may be at a remote site). Any error in this path will cause this error at refresh time. For fast refreshes, the table .MLOG$_ is also referenced.Action: Examine the other messages on the stack to find the problem. See if the objects SNAP$_, MVIEW$_, .@, .MLOG$_@ still exist.

This system is triggered automatically by the error in servers, so the KCII team unfortunately cannot 'unlock' devices that are under this restriction. Please try the following if you are encountering this problem. Choose a dedicated error in materialized device for a single account. Wait for at least 24 hours and try logging in from your main device. If the restriction is not lifted, make sure that you are not trying to log in on a device that has been used for another account recently. refresh Options bytelock10 View Member Profile Jul 21 2009, 02:00 AM Post #1 Newbie Group: Members Posts: 7 Joined: 13-July 09 Member No.: 41,224 Hi everyone,I am having problems with my procedure which is refreshing materialized views. This is the error i am getting : -12008: ORA-12008: error in materialized view refresh pathORA-01555: snapshot too old: rollback segment number 14...I have two database with the same procedure and the same objects. They run at the same time, however, there are times when i get the error on the other database while the other database runs the procedure without any error. When i checked the net, they say that this error is caused by data that is old, so the solution is to make the source a predecessor of my procedure/job. But what i am thinking is that how was it possible for the other database to run it completely even if it is not yet linked as the successor of the source? Can you please help me understand this. And do you have any solution how to avoid this error?Thank you Bytelock dave View Member Profile Jul 21 2009, 03:00 AM Post #2 Advanced Member Group: Members Posts: 5,208 Joined: 8-October 04 Member No.: 785 the errors occurs becuase your undo is configured incorrectly for the job you are running.Your explanation is complete rubbish.Sort out your Undo settings bytelock10 View Member Profile Jul 21 2009, 03:07 AM Post #3 Newbie Group: Members Posts: 7 Joined: 13-July 09 Member No.: 41,224 QUOTE (dave @ Jul 21 2009, 03:01 AM) the errors occurs becuase your undo is configured incorrectly for the job you are running.Your explanation is complete rubbish.Sort out your Undo settingsWe did that before. We increased the undo tablespace. It worked for couple of days, but again the error came back.So i thought it might be caused by a different factor. dave View Member Profile Jul 21 2009, 03:11 AM Post #4 Advanced Member Group: Members Posts: 5,208 Joined: 8-October 04 Member No.: 785 increasing the undo tablespace is irrelevant because you dont have unable to extend error, you have ORA-1555you need to sort out your undo settings (hint undo_retention) burleson View Member Profile Jul 21 2009, 09:07 AM Post #5 Advanced Member Group: Members Posts: 13,227 Joined: 26-January 04 Member No.: 13 Hi,>> Can you please help me understand this. Oracle MUST be able to keep all "before" images in UNDO to roll-back a transaction.Too little, and you get an ORA-01555 . .
