Re: missing font error killing my (Print>PDF/distiller) job Bill@VT May 20, 2009 7:28 PM (in response to digitalsoul) Use print-to-file with the Adobe PDF printer to create a PS file (may be prn extension). Open the PS file in a text editor, such as WordPad or Notepad. Look for the listing of the font that is missing. Try to print a file in the same way with a simple Courier applied. Compare the font designation in both files. It may be that the font that is being flagged is not one that you have or that is licensed for embedding. It may have been added from the fonts of a graphics package and be of a different form and not licensed. You may have Courier on your system (as do I), but it may not be the same Courier and that is important in the discussion. You could also try to turn off the option to not create the PDF with a font error and even turn off font embedding. Then when you get the PDF, you

Solutions If you are printing from Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, install the 10.6.7 update. It resolves ‘invalidfont' errors when printing to PostScript printers. To avoid problems with corrupted fonts, replace or reinstall the font on the RIP and/or computer. You could also try to https://forums.adobe.com/thread/435881 print with the option ‘Download As SoftFont' enabled in the printer driver. Such encodings will cause an ‘invalidfont' error on the RIP. Besides not using such fonts, there are two possible solutions for this problem: Upgrade the RIP. Try creating the printfile or PDF file in another fashion. For Indesign for example, you should use Acrobat Distiller instead of exporting to PDF from within InDesign itself. and turn it into a PDF, did you have the following errors occur? No PDF file produced. ] %% ] According to this article from the Adobe Forum: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/510096, the errors occurred because the document in error invalidfont question was created on a system using either Windows XP or Windows Vista. If you were using Windows 7 to create a PDF of your document and the process crashed, that is because Microsoft changed the inner workings of this particular font and all the issues stemmed from that. The solution to this issue is telling error invalidfont offending Adobe Distiller not to 'Rely on System Fonts only' do not use document fonts.' By doing this, Distiller disregards any of your own fonts and instead works with the fonts contained in the document. The following is a similar error that may occur: %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%% %%[Page: 1]%% %%[Page: 2]%% %%[Page: 3]%% %%[Page: 4]%% %%[Page: 5]%% %%[Page: 6]%% %%[Page: 7]%% Cambria not found, using Courier. %%[ Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand: xshow ]%% Stack: [85 0] ( ) %%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%% %%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %% This error can be resolved by changing one of the Adobe PDF printer settings. When you are in the print dialog, and you have selected the appropriate PDF printer, select "Properties." In the dialog box, there should be a tab titled "Adobe PDF Settings," and it should look like the below image. Un-check "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts." This solves the issue
