to OS X Yosemite. After installing the new software, I've got some bugs with Illustrator. Namely, upon opening the program, I get the message "Error loading plugins". The plugin in question is "photoshopimport.aip". I'm not sure if this is related to the next issue - I'm no longer able to open .tif files in Illustrator and says that they are "an unknown format and cannot be opened". I have uninstalled photoshopimport.aip yosemite and re-installed all Adobe programs, but I still get the same error messages.Naturally, most of the work I do is in Illustrator with .tif files. Can anyone offer some help with these problems? Is this a case of the new OS X and CS4 having compatibility issues? Am I going to have to bite the bullet and upgrade to a newer version of Adobe? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Rob Comments Marvin Posts: 13,751member, moderator November 2014 There's a thread here where others have experienced this:https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1610655?start=0&tstart=0Looks as though one of Adobe's internal plug-ins makes a call to a system function http://forums.appleinsider.com/discussion/183270/adobe-illustrator-cs4-wont-work that no longer exists. That function map_fd had a security vulnerability a while ago but Apple has obviously just removed it in Yosemite. If it's a minor update, Adobe might issue one but I doubt it. Mostly likely they'll just say to get Adobe CC as the support period for CS4 will have run out by now. macgizmo Posts: 80member December 2014 Adobe apps are, Illustrator in particular, are finicky. Move the wrong file or font and the install is worthless. Before you have a fit, try uninstalling Illustrator and reinstalling. It's likely that everything will be fine. rubaiyat Posts: 277member January 2015 Think the CS4 suite requires Java as well. At least I got alerts and fed it Java and seems OK now. Although I can't get Photoshop's perspective tool to work. Instead of doing a perspective correct it zooms in on a single pixel. Sign In or Register to comment. I'd say it would be wise to fix the issue, if they ever want us to buy Apple products again. H

Now that OS X 10.10 Yosemite is available as a free upgrade from the Mac App Store, you're probably wondering how well your Adobe software and other Mac apps will run on it. Below is a summary of various reports I’ve read on Adobe.com and around the web. I'll continue to update this article as I find out more. The good news is that upgrading to Yosemite seems to cause fewer compatibility challenges than some earlier OS X upgrades did. Yosemite and current versions of Adobe software Adobe FAQs: Adobe has published a tech note, Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10) compatibility FAQs. It contains links to additional information, so be sure to expand each of the FAQ questions there. On that page Adobe says “The latest versions of all Adobe CC products are compatible” and that no updates are required to run Adobe CC products on OS X 10.10 Yosemite. The Adobe FAQ says "In our testing we have found no other significant issues with running Creative Cloud products with OS X Yosemite," but with every OS X release things have turned up. I add them to this article as I come across them. Lightroom 5: The Maps module may load slowly, or fail to load completely. According to an Adobe statement at Photoshop.com (Lightroom: Issue with Map module in OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)), the problem is apparently related to an Apple change in Yosemite that interferes with retrieving map data from Google Maps. [Update: Apple fixed their bug in OS X 10.10.2 which is now available. After you install OS X 10.10.2, the Lightroom Maps module should work properly.] InDesign: InDesign generally seems to run fine on Yosemite, but some users have seen a crash in Open/Save/Export dialog boxes. While speculation in that linked forum discussion suspects a Finder plug-in installed by Dropbox, it could be related to the Default Folder util
