Then it should work fine. After you install Ubuntu, remove your USB and pc should boot into the Ubuntu installed on your drive. share|improve this answer answered Jan 30 '13 at 11:35 tikend 5472520 Universal USB Installer can also be used to make bootable ubuntu usb, which is a tool prescribed in Ubuntu website. –TheKojuEffect Jan 30 '13 at 11:59 1 did you set up bios correctly? –tikend Jan 30 '13 at 13:02 8 My housemate suggested I try it in FAT32 format instead of NTFS and it worked right away –user127259 Jan 30 '13 at 18:01 2 of course. i forget to tell you this. usb will not boot from ntfs, only from fat32. –tikend Jan 31 '13 at 8:00 1 @user127259 please post your solution as an answer and mark it as the solution / best answer :) –Smile4ever May 23 '15 at 9:53 | show

(not with the USB drive obviously) –Rsya Studios Nov 1 '14 at 8:44 No, the USB has a 64-bit version and both laptops have 64-bit architecture. –NotFromBrooklyn Nov 1 '14 at 8:45 Yes, the laptop boots correctly with Ubuntu. It's new. –NotFromBrooklyn Nov 1 '14 at 8:46 Did you completely wipe the USB flash drive before setting it up as a bootable install drive? Perhaps there is something left over from a previous use of the drive that's causing the problem. –Twisty Nov 1 '14 at 12:00 | show 1 more comment 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted Found a guy that had a same problem, Writing zeros with dd and then reformating solved his problem.
