Note down the error code and update me with the same, would let you know the next course of action. You may also refer to this video on how to run the PSA Diagnostics:http://dell.to/18woC5M Awaiting your response! Thanks OldKatie, Dec 4, 2009 #1 Sponsor Frank4d Trusted Advisor Joined: Sep 10, 2006 Messages: 9,126 Look in the BIOS setup for the SATA drive mode settings. Choices are SATA on or off, and RAID on or off. https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-error-loading-operating-system.882746/ Ensure SATA is "on", and turn RAID "off". Frank4d, Dec 4, 2009 #2 TheOutcaste Joined: Aug 7, 2007 Messages: 9,028 Another thought, if you at some pint re-installed XP and did not use the Dell supplied disk, you may have changed the BIOS setting for the SATA drive from AHCI mode to ATA mode, so that you wouldn't have to provide the SATA driver during the install. If you did, it may have reverted to AHCI when you replaced the battery. TheOutcaste, Dec 4, 2009 #3 OldKatie Thread Starter Joined: Dec 4, 2009 Messages: 4 Thanks for your post Frank4d. I have checked the status of drives, the options are Off, On or Raid On. Both SATA-0 & SATA-1 are set to "On". I assume that this is correct? OldKatie, Dec 5, 2009 #4 OldKatie Thread Starter Joined: Dec 4, 2009 Messages: 4 TheOutcaste, thanks for the information. I believe that XP may have been re-installed at some point (this was not done by me so I am not sure how it was done). How do I check the BIOS setting that you refer to I can not see this in set up?
