Published by Jesse Perry (JP) on September 1, 2010 | Leave a response Outlook 2007 and 2003 suffer from more than a little sibling rivalry. Here is the problem and the solution… Microsoft Outlook – Mapisvc.inf – There was an error locating one of the items needed to complete this operation. It might have been deleted. Here is the error: Microsoft Outlook – Mapisvc.inf – There was an error locating one of the items needed to complete this operation. It might have been deleted. Here goes, I installed Microsoft Office 2003 on a brand new computer that had a trial of Office 2007 installed. I setup a new user in Outlook… WHAMMO… an error. It said "There was an error locating one of the items needed to complete this operation. It might have been deleted." There were no errors on the install so what is the deal? Google knows all, and some forum and blog posts pointed to deleting a file called Mapisvc.inf. So… where is it? C:Windowssystem3Mapisvc.inf C:Program FilesCommon FilesSystemMSMAPi1033Mapisvc.inf After deleting these files, Outlook let me create a user profile and the data file worked a treat. I hope this helps the next poor schlep that has to deal with these fighting siblings! JP Posted in Tips&Tricks Tagged Error, Outlook Article written by Jesse Perry (JP) Hi there, I am Jesse Perry.
