SQL ssas logging cube processing Server > SQL Server Analysis Services Question 0 Sign in to vote Hello Can ssas cube processing error log anyone help to let me know if we have a tool or a reference where we can find SSAS cube processing Error Code description.
Msmdsrv.log Location
I have different error codes logged whicle processing by cube, error codes like -1056964601, -1055129598 etc. I found a reference for SSIS error codes ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345164(v=sql.90).aspx), so was checking if something similar exists for SSAS ( SQL Server 2005). I found the following msdn document for your reference, please see: Analysis Services Error Messages: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa937477(v=sql.80).aspx In your case, please post the detail error mesage to us for further investigation? I recommend you refer to the following article: Data collection for troubleshooting Analysis Services issues: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/as_emea/archive/2012/01/02/initial-data-collection-for-troubleshooting-analysis-services-issues.aspx Best Regards, Elvis Long TechNet Community Support

dimension? How can you change the SSAS error processing configuration? Solution SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) actually offers an array ssas default error configuration of various error handling techniques for common issues that surface when processing a cube, a partition, or a dimension. These properties allow you to set various error number thresholds for stopping processing https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/54bf8789-738b-4cb5-b35b-fb3c42830db3/ssas-cube-processing-error-codes-?forum=sqlanalysisservices while at the same time telling SSAS how to handle specific errors that occur. As with many features, you need to be careful to use these options appropriately and with full knowledge of the impact on your data. Many of the options often would violate foreign key constraint issues that normally would surface in a normalized OLTP database. To the contrary, the error processing options provide https://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/3476/sql-server-analysis-services-ssas-processing-error-configurations/ a great way for cube processing to continue when only minor or immaterial errors occur during cube processing which in turn provides for great "up and running" time for the cubes themselves. We will use the Adventure Works databases as the basis for our SSAS cube processing. The 2014 versions of the regular and data warehousedatabases, along with the SSAS cube database backups are available on Codeplex at https://msftdbprodsamples.codeplex.com/releases/view/125550. Once you download and install the SQL Server databases and the MultiDimensional SSAS cube database, we will subsequently useSQL Server Data Tools (SSDT-BI) for Visual Studio 2013 to work through the cube processing examples. Setting the SSAS ErrorConfiguration Properties As shown in the next illustration the default error configuration for an SSAS cube is not surprisingly "default". In actuality,9 properties make up the error configuration setting and each property has its own default value as shown in the second illustration below. Each of the 9 properties controls slightly different processing results and several of the settings have the same potential values that can be selected. The properties include:CalculationError - Determines what occurs when an error is found in a calculation created on the Calculation tab.

Is there any way to maintain error logs (like in ssis) on cubes? sql-server error-handling ssas share|improve this question asked Oct 22 '12 at 8:44 Sandeep Pulikonda 1992521 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 5 down analysis services error vote accepted The key mechanisms for maintaining error logs for Analysis Services are to either: Keep track of the data stored in the msmdsrv.log. It will be necessary to copy the log off before it gets overwritten. If you are using Analysis Services 2005, 2008, or 2008 R2, you can generate your own trace events as noted in the System-wide Trace file section of the post Analysis Services Processing Best Practces at: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc966525.aspx#EBAA If you are using SQL Server 2012, you can use the XEvents feature as noted in the SSAS documentation Use SQL Server Extended Events (XEvents) to Monitor Analysis Services at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492139.aspx Another approach is to use the SQL Server Profiler runnning in the background so that way you can record all events. But this would be similar to the #2 option. Also note that the #3 option (using XEvents) has the least impact on your Analysis Services server in terms of resource utilization. share|improve this answer answered Nov 5 '12 at 0:03 Denny Lee 50628 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote According to the documentation, logging is configured through a number of server properties that define logging behaviour and locations. share|improve this answer answered Oct 2
