I have tried the following: uninstalling all antivirus software scanning with MalwareByte's Anti-Malware doing a Disk Cleanup running Disk Defrag booting TRK and running fsck -t ntfs (gives error Unsupported case. and not implemented). I have also tried a System Restore, but there is a Temporary Internet file that appears to be in all restore points, http://superuser.com/questions/516527/chkdsk-error-code-766f6c756d652e63-3f1 and that file must be corrupted or something, because System Restore always grinds to a halt when it gets to that file. I went to my C: drive and tried to run the chkdsk but I got this message: “Windows can’t check the disk while it’s in use.” So I chose to schedule a disk check next time I log on. Then I restarted and let chkdsk run. Then I got this error message: “Cannot open volume for direct access. Autochk cannot run due to an error caused by a recently installed software package.
