I can read from the radio into Commander but when I try to write back to the radio I get this Error statement in the Commander app: Sent: 41 48 30 32 31 00 E0 01 02 01 ERROR: No 06 response from VX-6! And I see ERROR displayed on the screen of the radio. More details: I have tried this on a a) Win7 Pro 64 , b) Win7 Home Premium 64, and on an old laptop running WinXP 32bit. The thing is that years ago (3 or 4?) when I was running XP or Vista I was able to program the radio with this software and the hardware cable interface. Thinking maybe something in the radio is corrupted I tried doing a factory reset with the MODE, 0 and V/M buttons held down, then F/W. But I am not sure if that even worked. I think it did but it comes up with 144.000 and it says [6] above it. Not sure why [6] although when i hit the V/M button to come out VFO it says MEMORY and then goes to [1] and I can't rotate off that, so I guess no other channels are programmed in it. So I think I have reset the radio but I still get the ERROR message when I try to send from the Commander application on the Win7 machine to the radio. I have the ADMS cable and software for my VX-6R and the cable that came with it was bad. RT will replace the cable if that is the one you are using. See if you can get your hands on another cable and try from there. Also do you have the old screw in type cable or the newer long mini plug type without the threading. Make sure the plug is all the way into the radio and i

There are several postings on http://forums.radioreference.com/amateur-radio-equipment/217689-problems-programming-yaesu-vx-6r.html this general topic. Most trail off without successful solutions while some end with the equivalent of "I finally got it to work" with no specifics of what worked. So, please, help!I am a long-time licensed ham, but never on air. I was recently motivated by listening to the Ham Nation podcast to get going again and purchased a VX-5R off eBay. Yes, since then I've received advice on getting a mobile rig http://www.eham.net/ehamforum/smf/index.php/topic,77019.0.html first and learned the reason for this advice by trying to get on the local repeater.I am trying to program the frequencies with the VX-5 Commander software (ver. 0.0.9) and keep getting the "CLONE ERROR." The details are:- I have Windows 7 64-bit- TTL2USB cable- Yaesu CT-91 adapter- changed COM settings to lower the baud rate and increase timeout times- reset the VX-5r to factory settings- tried earlier Commander softwareAny suggestions would be greatly appreciated! The cable test software successfully finds the ttl2usb box on COM 3. That's the closest I get to a link. Logged KA4POL Member Posts: 2409 RE: "CLONE ERROR" VX-5r « Reply #1 on: August 20, 2011, 07:34:36 AM » Thanks for being so considerate to explain all the details. There are not so many who do that.Keep in mind, the software is still in Beta version. There may be a problem with Windows 7 64bit. Take a look into http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VX5EVE/message/409 they are talking about this problem. What also comes to mind is that someone may have modified the VX-5 as you got it used.By the way I wouldn't see it as mandatory to start with a mobile rig. If you got a repeater in the vicinity you are well off with your VX5. Logged K8AXW Member Posts: 5489 RE: "CLONE ERROR

I know though that this topic has been covered many times but I feel mine a few additional details. I am in Afghanistan at the moment so I would prefer to solve the problem myself rather than send the mount back. Anyway, story is, I've been waiting 2 months to get my mount, all the rest of the equipment: camera, lenses, optical tube etc arrived 6 weeks ago so I've been dying to use it as the sky has been crystal clear. Mount finally arrives, I get it all set up and it is working and everything but I can't use it yet because I work nights and I have to wait for a night off. Last night was my night off so yesterday during the day I started to set up the camera and also to connect it up to my Mac via cable
