When the unit arrived, the battery had a full charge, so I used the error no rig for several hours without any problem. When I plugged in the provided NC-72B adaptor, though, I got a "NO BAT" error message on the display screen (the unit powered up on external DC, though, so it was clear that the charger was working). The tech support folks at Yaesu insisted this meant that the battery was defective, so I ordered a new one. I have the same issue again - the battery powered the error no 06 unit until it's charge was depleted. When I connect the charge adaptor, I get power to the unit (it shows that it is running on external DC), but the charge light glows orange and I get a NO BAT message (and the battery does not charge). Since the battery originally powered the unit, I assume the contacts are in good shape.Has anybody encountered this error before? Is there something that can be reset on the unit? Would this be solved by using a charging cradle (versus charging through the unit)? Or, will I need to send the HT back to Yaesu for repair?Steven, W3SFG Logged AA4PB Member Posts: 13966 VX-6R Charging (NO BAT) Error « Reply #1 on: August 10, 2009, 10:28:21 AM » Did you leave it on the charger (radio off) for several hours to see if the NO BAT indication goes away? I expect the no bat condition is a result of the battery not drawing sufficient current from the charger. It may recover is you leave it on charge for a while.
