Upon further research, I found something really strange:The error is sometimes being generated when messages are being received for valid local email accounts/domains. I was finally able to reproduce this problem by sending a message to several of our accounts https://www.hmailserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20680 through a specific Comcast mail server, using one of our clients' accounts that was having problems sending to us. (Another Comcast server worked fine) The Comcast server connects, issues a EHLO, sends the mail from and mail to commands, then it gets the 530 message.I tested sending messages to the same accounts via other servers and they were coming in fine. I had someone else send me the bounce back message they got, and their message did not go through Comcast, so the problem is not limited to that specific server/ISP. An example return message (Nothing unusual there. typical 530 bounce back. email addresses and IPs have been altered): -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Undeliverable: Fwd: MessageDate: Thu, 26 May 2011 21:07:40 -0700From: mailer-daemon@-------.comTo: ----@------.comYour message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. At my house error number I had Comcast cable internet and used Outlook Express and never had any problems with it whatsoever. Once I moved in I cannot send any mail but I can still receive e-mails. Here is the Error message I get:The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'username@comcast.net'. windows live mail Subject 'Subject', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '530 Authentication required', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 530, Error Number: 0x800CCC78I am not a tech person at all and have no clue what's going on. I do not know what my college's internet provider is but if it helps I attend William Jessup University in Rocklin California. I use the wireless internet that is provided throughout the campus. Any and all info on how to fix this problem is greatly appreciated! · actions · 2006-Aug-24 7:18 pm · StillLearnPremium Memberjoin:2002-03-21Streamwood, IL StillLearn Premium Member 2006-Aug-24 7:34 pm See if »Comcast High Speed Internet FAQ »If I am out of Comcast's network can I check my e-mail on my laptop? helps. · actions · 2006-Aug-24 7:34 pm · GameFreakGCjoin:2006-08-24Rocklin, CA GameFreakGC Member 2006-Aug-24 8:07 pm Yes that solved the problem, thank you so much for your help. · actions · 2006-Aug-24 8:07 pm · Forums → US ISPs cable → Comcast XFINITY« capping/powerboost question • Acct suspended - Abuse Dept? »
