I bought and tried several... Cost me a bit of transfer files bootcamp time and money, but finally a 4G usb drive did the trick (Sony Micro Vault Tiny 4 GB). Once you find your USB drive the error will simply disappear. I don't know exactly why some usb drives work and some don't.... Seems bizarre.
