Right click the involved partition, and then click Properties > Tools > a disk read error occurred windows 7 Error-checking > Check Now… Choose both options, and click Start to continue. 2. Right click the involved partition, then click Properties> Tools> Defragmentation, and then click Defragment Now… After this, please run our product again. Please tell us the result. Anything else that can be tried? Thanks, T Top Yang Bo Groupie Posts: 230 Joined: Tue Oct 27, 2009 9:33 am Quote Postby Yang Bo » Tue Dec 22, 2009 9:29 am Dear T, We are sorry for your problem. The message "Reading Sector Failure" means there are some errors on your source disk. We suggest you try the following method: We suggest you run "chkdsk /r" command (Click Start->Run, input "chkdsk/r"). Then the program will ask you whether you would like to perform the command during next reboot, please choose "Y". After the computer rebooted, please try our product again. If that still cannot work, we suggest you run CHKDSK three times, because sometimes the chkdsk utility may miss some errors. Did you use EASEUS Todo Backup 1.0? We have released EASEUS Todo Backup 1.1,it corrected some Bugs.

If the MBR or a sector that contains a partition table or boot sector can not be read, the entire disk or drive will become inaccessible. Bad sectors in a system area http://forum.easeus.com/viewtopic.php?t=18477 are a recipe for disaster. There are 2 ways of dealing with data loss due to read errors: 1. Clone the disk to a "known to be good" disk 2. Repair bad sectors in-place If you have reason to believe a disk's condition is rapidly deteriorating, always clone the disk! If a partition was lost because the partition table sector could not be read, apart from repairing the bad sector http://www.diydatarecovery.nl/kb_badsectors_article.htm you will also need to rebuild the information that was in that sector. Cloning a bad or corrupt hard disk To be able to clone a disk with read errors or logical corruption you will need a data recovery utility that is designed to cope with this type of error. The tool of choice must gracefully handle read errors and get as much data from the source disk as possible. It should ignore any (corrupt) logical structures on the disk. A successful strategy to copy as much data of a disk as possible is doing multiple passes. In a first pass try to avoid disk hangups by not trying too hard and skip over errors. The cloning software keeps track of the areas it skipped and processes those areas during the next pass. DiskPatch clones disk to disk using a 2 pass clone. iRecover writes a raw image file that can later be processed, also using a 2 pass clone. Repairing corrupt or bad sectors If a sector's data is corrupt, it can often be reconstructed using ECC (error correction). If the sector is too unreliable to store data again, it will be reallocated; the sector is taken out of service and replaced by one f

Glossary > Data Recovery Tips Hard drive physical sectors architecture and data reading process If the disk drive suddenly stops responding or the hard drive simply crashes, what does it mean? When data is written to the drive it is encoded. The actual data itself is never written, only the interpretation of the data. If you are thinking that a drive contains 0's and 1's then you are thinking about it incorrectly. The data is more like a wave form being written to the drive. It has to be interpreted back on its way out before it becomes a 0 or a 1. Before the data is written the data is randomized. This eliminates patterns that might be the same so that ECC is not confused. It is difficult to do pattern detection on a pattern that appears over and over. The data structure that is written to the sectors is important to understand if you are using any diagnostic software. Many of them use common terms to discuss the types of errors. If the sector that holds this information is corrupt there is no way for the hard drive to locate this sector and it will return the result IDNF. AMNF-Address Marker Not Found . This is similar to the IDNF but relates to the data. If there is an error and this marker is corrupt then the data for this sector cannot be located. ECC is used to check the integrity of the data being read. When the data is read the drive calculates the ECC and compares.
