issue, When i encountered this problem, i did a quick search in google and most people error performing inpage operation fix advised to go for new replacement rather trying with error prone external hard drive. Even at that moment, i even thought my old data

was lost and in fact i was looking for some data recovery tools and other solutions to recover my data from hard drive. (probably a complex process :P) Also When i was navigating to Disk Management (Storage) utility under Computer https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/error-performing-inpage-operation-104879/ Management, I was noticing for Errors in hard drive the file type was empty rather (FAT/NTFS) and free size as full disk size, which worried me as i thought the hard drive was corrupted or data should have been erased completely. Don't Forget to Like Our Facebook Page What is Inpage Error? Physical problems on the diskette media, and is probably unrelated to paging operations involving the Windows paging file The error message can also mean that your drive is http://www.technotipsblog.com/2011/10/error-performing-inpage-operation-on.html in bad state with some bad sectors which is the reason. Solution: Here is the Easy way to Solve "inpage error" or "Error Performing Inpage Operation" by below step. But this simple tip might be easy to trouble shoot and take bit too long (depends on disk size and amount of errors) Start > Run > type in cmd then click OK to get a command prompt. Type chkdsk e: /r (replace e: with the drive letter of your external hard drive with the error). Also you could use a /f instead of /r. /r attempts to recover bad sectors. /f tries to fix bad sectors. /f does not try to repair. so you would have more data loss, but if its that bad its another option. /? will show all options Might not work if drive is full, needs room to recover files. it will let you know if that happens. Posted on 2005-02-01 Hardware 4 Verified Solutions 18 Comments 52,429 Views Last Modified: 2011-08-18 A desktop computer in our home has just come up with:" F:\ is not accessible. Error performing inpage operation." This computer is not networked and has never been on the Internet. We do transfer some files back and forth, but I've been updated with McAfee automatically, and I've scanned everything (I know that does not guarantee a lack of a virus, but it's as close as I can get). This is my girlfriend's computer, it hasn't been backed up in a few weeks, and I'll be sleeping in the garage if I botch the data recovery on it. Most of her data consists of images - TIFFs, JPEGs, and Photoshop formats. The only tinkering I've done on her machine (and my desktop, which also had a similar crash) is to install Windows 2000 sp4. I've read a couple of boards that report a similar problem with sp4, although there seemed to be a decent lag (at least a week) betwen installing sp4 & the error. I've also transferred some of my files onto her computer via a USB flash drive. Any ideas on reading & repairing the drive? It makes a consistent, short crunching sound whien I double click on it, and then the error message comes up after about 15 seconds. I'm very inexperienced in the area of data recovery, so if you have suggestions, please angle them more toward the Beginner end of the spectrum. 0 Question by:roeperdan Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 67 Active 1 day ago Best Solution bysirbounty Another possibilty ericpete...it could be a partition - Disk Mgt will show you that as well.
