It was really slow and it would restart all by itself. I don't know if it was IEFIX because I have been downloading some software lately. I thought it might be a virus, but I found that scanning my second partition was impossible. So I opened up My Computer and tried to open the partition and got an error:D:\ is not accessibleError performing inpage operatio

but this one has me stumped. First my laptop (Dell Inspiron 8500) stopped booting, giving me a BSOD every time I tried. I took out the HD and mounted it in an external https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/error-performing-inpage-operation-104879/ drive enclosure (NexStar USB 2.0) and hooked it up to my desktop to get the data off it before reformatted the drive, assuming at this point that it was just a corrupted copy of windows I was dealing with. However, when I tried to open the drive in windows explorer I got a “can not read drive F: Error Performing Inpage Operation” message. I tried rebooting http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/224954-32-trouble-quot-error-performing-inpage-operation-quot the system a couple times to no avail. After an online search the only info I was able to find was that my HD was probably failing and to try Ontrack’s Easy Recovery Pro. I tried the software and I was able to see the data on the drive just fine, but to get it off I will have to buy the software. This is going to set me back about $90. It’s worth it to me to get the data(serves me right for not backing up my data as often as I should), but I hate to shell out the cash if I’m just missing something simple that would let me access the drive. Thank you in advance for your advice, I’ve found the comments on this site invaluable over the years. System Specs. i tried to open my External Hardrive, I came across this error message "H:\ is not accessible, Error Performing Inpage Operation". I am sure http://www.technotipsblog.com/2011/10/error-performing-inpage-operation-on.html most of them might have come across this problem and hope below solution might solve the issue, When i encountered this problem, i did a quick search in google and most people advised to go for new replacement rather trying with error prone external hard drive. Even at that moment, i even thought my old data was lost and in fact i was looking error performing for some data recovery tools and other solutions to recover my data from hard drive. (probably a complex process :P) Also When i was navigating to Disk Management (Storage) utility under Computer Management, I was noticing for Errors in hard drive the file type was empty rather (FAT/NTFS) and free size as full disk size, which worried me as i thought the hard drive was error performing inpage corrupted or data should have been erased completely. Don't Forget to Like Our Facebook Page What is Inpage Error? Physical problems on the diskette media, and is probably unrelated to paging operations involving the Windows paging file The error message can also mean that your drive is in bad state with some bad sectors which is the reason. Solution: Here is the Easy way to Solve "inpage error" or "Error Performing Inpage Operation" by below step. But this simple tip might be easy to trouble shoot and take bit too long (depends on disk size and amount of errors) Start > Run > type in cmd then click OK to get a command prompt. Type chkdsk e: /r (replace e: with the drive letter of your external hard drive with the error). Also you could use a /f instead of /r. /r attempts to recover bad sectors. /f tries to fix bad sectors. /f does not try to repair. so you would have more data loss, but if its that bad its another option. /? will show all options Might not work if drive is full, needs room to recover
