8, 2010 10:46:35 AM Have you done chkdsk?? http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q141117 Open up command prompt then type CHKDSK L: /R and hit error performing inpage operation external hard drive enter (where L: is LOCAL DISK). It may take a while for it to check and fix any errors on the volume. Once it's completed, try accessing the volume again. Share Anonymous February

26, 2010 5:19:09 PM I can't thank you enough!!!! I am a graphic designer and I couldn't access my external hard drive where all of my artwork is stored. I tried what you suggested. CHKDSK L: /R and it worked!!! It took about 4 hours to complete it's thing, but praise God I can now access my files. Thank you once again! If your 'important' data is damaged, you'll be up a creek without backups. So.........Assuming you've got WinXP, click START, click RUN and type "cmd" without the quotes. You'll be in command window - then type chkdsk [drive:] /F (such as - chkdsk e: /F) which should perform a repair of the drive.
