The Print Processor Does Not Exist Mar 2014 Posted by Ian Matthews+ in Windows Client: Win 7 8 & 10, Windows Server | 9 comments If you are seeing the dreaded "Print Processor Does Not Exist", it means one of two things: Your PC has missing or corrupt print processor files. This is easy to fix if you have another 64bit PC without the print problem. In SERVICES stop the PRINT SPOOLER From a PC that is working, copy the following files overtop of your problem PC's files: C:\Windows\System32\spool\prtprocs\x64 from Take note that most often the problem I have seen is with WINPRINT.DLL and that file could be copied from any equivalent PC (same OS) as it is part of Windows Reboot . Your registry is missing some entries. From a PC that is not experiencing this problem, what you need to do is export HKLM\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\PRINT\ENVIRONMENTS\WINDOWS X64\PRINT PROCESSORS\ and then import it into the problem machine, then reboot alternately you could create new keys and entries manually but that is a pain
Take note that most often the problem I have seen is with WINPRINT.DLL so if you are just guessing I would create that one manually. It is a simple STRING. . While the System File Checker is often a great fix, I have had less success with it, but if you are stuck, just launch a CMD as administrator and type SFC /SCANNOW . Then reboot when it is done. Solved Issue with "Print Processor Does Not Exist" - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit Posted on 2013-04-05 Windows OS Printers and Scanners Windows 7 1 Verified Solution 3 Comments 6,583 error print Views Last Modified: 2013-04-23 I am having an issue with a particular domain-joined Windows 7 computer that seems to have had its print services all messed up. The computer was priting just fine yesterday to a certain point, where it just stopped working. All the network joined computers disappeared from Devices and Printers, and it was giving an error that the Print Spooler was not running. So, simple enough, cleared out error print processor the information in the Printers and Drivers folder in %systemroot%\windows\system32\spool\* folder, restarted the Print Spooler, and I then had the ability to try and add new printers. However, when I went to re-add these printers, the print spooler was stopping/crashing during the install process. I repeated this step over and over, and then, out of nowhere, I started to get the "printer processor does not exist" or "cannot connect to printer" error message. I uninstalled print services, rebooted, reinstalled print services, and tried to add again, and no luck. I the printer driver files are ok, as I was able to add the printer to two other domain-joined Windows 7 machines and print just fine. System restore on the affected computer did not alleviate the problem either. I'm not sure what I am missing, and I am trying to prevent a wipe and re-install of the OS. Armandus 9 Comments So I have came across this error on one of my user's computer when trying to install a network printer. To give you some background, I usually install network printers (which is installed on the print server and shared) using the following technique: Go to RUN Browse to print server by typing the hostname (all shared printers should be listed if setup that way) Double-click on desired printer to install and there you go. When I tried this technique today (together with other ways of connecting to a network printer) I can accross the error "Windows cannot connect to the printer. The print processor does not exist". I did the normal print spooler restart / stop-start, but to no avail. I searched the web for answers, but this was one case which had no direct resolution. So eventually I managed to get this fixed. I hope the following info will help you when you run into this problem, as this worked for me. Steps to follow: Firstly, remove all printer drivers installed. To make sure, go to Devices and Printers, select a printer (not double click) and choose "Print Server Properties". In the list that appears, Remove all the printers, and when prompted for each printer, select "Remove driver and driver package" When that is done, stop the print spooler service. Now, open Regedit and navigate to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Print Processors\ Expant "Print Processors" and make sure there is a key called "winprint". If not, right-click on "Print Processors" and select NEW -> Key. Call it "winprint" (without the quotes). Within the "winprint" key, create a new String Value and call it "Driver". It's value data should be "winprint.dll" (without the quotes). Now navigate to the following path in Windows Explorer: C:\Windows\System32\spool\prtprocs\w32x86 You will find some files there, but the most important would be the "winprint.dll", "jnwppr.dll" and "msonpppr.dll" files. Delete them (or to be safe, just move them to another location). If you have an "access denied" or "other program(s) are using the files" prompt, make sure that the print spooler service is stopped. Now you need to find a similiar PC environment (Windows 7 32-bit, etc). From the worki
