error in the printing system HP Customer Question the job failed to print due to an error in the printing systemHP recognizes this is a chronic issue and even wrote a utility to fix the problem -HPPDU.exe but alas https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/f4580-job-failed-print-due-to-error-in-printing-system/td-p/4000894 the problem continues. I've rebooted the printer and computer. I can print to the network printer from another computer. I can see it from this computer. I can even scan a document on the all-in-one scanner that is part of the printer on this computer. However, whenever I attempt to print from this Vista 32 -bit computer I get this error: the job failed to print due to an error in the printing system. It had worked http://www.justanswer.com/computer/52plr-job-failed-print-due-error-printing-system-hp.html for years without error. I haven't installed new software - I've un-installed and re-installed the HP driver software. In fact, the HP Digital Imaging Monitor says all is well... until I print. Oh, and I've manually stopped and re-started the Print Spooler. Anyone have a clue? Submitted: 5 years ago. Category:Computer Share this conversation Expert: Justin replied5 years ago. Type c:\windows\system32\spoolDouble click the "Printers" directory and delete ANY files located in there. Now go back to the printer spooler services and start it again (right click it, click start).Attempt to print. If it still can't print, I would attempt a system restore at this point. Go to start > all programs, accessories, system tools, System Restore. Choose a date prior to when the issue presented itself by selecting "show more installed dates".Once finished, restart your computer, and see if it prints. You may want to create a justanswer account password before doing the system restore or you may have trouble returning to me. To do this, go to My Account on the upper right, click Edit password. Set the password you would like twice. To return to me after the restore, go to www.justanswer.com click Login on the upper right and login in with
