On UNIX up vote 0 down vote favorite We https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH154195.html have a Java application installed on WebSphere 8.5 on IBM AIX 6.1. We need to print some documents using this application. Currently we are getting this error: ERROR syserr - javax.print.PrintException: Printer is not accepting job. ERROR syserr - at sun.print.UnixPrintJob.print(UnixPrintJob.java:307) Java version used is 6. We tried to find out solution online and found this link on Stackoverflow javax.print.PrintException: Printer is not accepting job Performed the same steps. But it http://stackoverflow.com/questions/31805434/javax-print-printexception-printer-is-not-accepting-job-on-unix did not help. We got this info also - https://community.oracle.com/message/5449533 But since this solution was provided considering Windows machine, It did not work for us. After looking at the source code for UnixPrintJob.java, we realized that below part of code is causing this error: if ((PrinterIsAcceptingJobs)(service.getAttribute( PrinterIsAcceptingJobs.class)) == PrinterIsAcceptingJobs.NOT_ACCEPTING_JOBS) { throw new PrintException("Printer is not accepting job."); } source : http://grepcode.com/file/repository.grepcode.com/java/root/jdk/openjdk/6-b14/sun/print/UnixPrintJob.java Could someone help and guide, why is this happening and what could be the solution ? java printing aix share|improve this question edited Aug 7 '15 at 12:14 asked Aug 4 '15 at 9:23 Pratik 32 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted encounter similar issues and found it was related to qdaemon service which could not be access by non root user. check whether non root user can query print queues defined on the server using lpstat. share|improve this answer answered Aug 7 '15 at 10:21 Wazirl 161 Thanks!. I was looking at bug report from Oracle Sun explaining similar problem which is pasted below. http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6525150 But none of the workarounds mentioned there is fixing the problem for me. Any help is appreciated. java printing share|improve this question edited Dec 28 '10 at 16:12 Jigar Joshi 159k27266332 asked Dec 28 '10 at 16:11 Ajith Jose 3982718 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote accepted Removing and adding the printer fixes the problem as mentioned in the bug as a workaround. It worked for me. share|improve this answer answered Jan 2 '11 at 20:11 Ajith Jose 3982718 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote printerName=printerName.replaceAll("#", "\\"); don't use the default printer and if the printer is default one then replace '#' with '//'. Due to window system I got this exception, I have replaced my printer name by using the above code and my problem is now solved. share|improve this answer edited Jun 16 '15 at 12:12 Anto 1,96294488 answered Jun 16 '15 at 11:28 Vikram 115 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote While
