Support Guy, we highly recommend that you visit our Guide for New Members. Vista - Printer error when attempting to print Discussion in 'All Other Software' started by Oconee29, Aug 10, 2009. Advertisement Oconee29 Thread Starter Joined: Aug 10, 2009 Messages: 3 Vista - Printer error when attempting to print When I send an item to print, the document appears in the print que. http://superuser.com/questions/300653/unable-to-delete-printer-status-stays-on-deleting-offline The printer is listed as offline in control panel. I change the printer status to online. The document now has error next to the file name in the printer que. Nothing actually prints. This printer connection was working error printing fine for seven months, and then just stopped. IÂ’m using Vista with a USB to parallel printer cable connected to an Epson printer. The printer passes the printer self test (done with PC off). I replaced the USB to parallel cables, no change. I have tried to delete the printer, delete USB printer support, and all items in the print que. Still no file prints. How do I find an error code for the print file, error printing vista to help define the problem? Any ideas on what to check? Oconee29, Aug 10, 2009 #1 Sponsor new tech guy Joined: Mar 27, 2006 Messages: 5,178 Question first, does the printer have a direct usb port on the back of it to directly connect to the pc instead of using the parelell converter? Also, is the printer set to print to the usb port in the printer properties (control panel>printers>properties, click on the ports tab)? Check those 2 things, sound silly but may just solve the problem. Also, make sure your print drivers are up to date. What model printer is it anyway? new tech guy, Aug 11, 2009 #2 Oconee29 Thread Starter Joined: Aug 10, 2009 Messages: 3 No the printer does not have a direct USB port. Yes the printer is set to print to the USB port. The printer is model is Epson C62. The printer is listed as offline when I look in control panel>printers. The Vista pc is seven months old and the printer and cable worked fine for 7 months. The printer passes a self test. I connected the printer to an old Windows XP pc and it prints. So it has something to do with Vista PC. Only changes I am aware of are the Vista update to SP2. Oconee29, Aug 12, 2009 #3 new tech

(I'm being serious) –slhck Jun 22 '11 at 14:28 @Chopper3: Seeing as you can ask questions about 'Desktop PCs that you maintain in the workplace' on ServerFault (quote from the faq, which I did read), I thought it was an OK place to ask. Fair enough. –Peter Jun 22 '11 at 14:50 @slhck: yes, these printers have been in the list for months. As I mentioned in my question, I have rebooted (but I used the word 'restarts', sorry for the confusion). I've even tried deleting them several times. –Peter Jun 22 '11 at 14:51 @Peter Oh, I somehow must have missed that, my bad. But basically, these printers are not physically there anymore, right? –slhck Jun 22 '11 at 14:53 | show 1 more comment 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote accepted Found the solution myself
