I tried downloading the deb which due to some reason never did finish its download subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127 (stopped at ~~10MB/17MB). Expectedly, installing the same gave unmet dependencies. I followed instructions given sudo dpkg -i teamviewer_linux.deb sudo apt-get install -f This is to my memory the only changes I did to the system. Following this, my apt-get or dpkg seem to be broken. Following is a sample call which returns errors in subprocesses. In order to switch to the system's default language, update-info-dir executes /env/environment. This is what my environment file looks like and the first line is different for everybody depending on what's installed. PATH="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games:/opt/mysql/server-5.6/bin" source /etc/environment Note the 2nd line. /etc/environment is calling itself! That's not good. Simply comment out/delete source /etc/environment and try again. share|improve this answer answered Oct 26 '13 at 14:39 arzoum 161 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
