Both Axis 2 and JAX-WS claim to support RESTful web services - in my opinion they are not ideal for the development of RESTful web services. That is why JAX-RS (JSR-311) was developed which is currently implemented in Jersey and then there is also Restlet. I'm not expecting the REST support under JAX-WS (and Axis2) to develop any further and wouldn't be surprised if it was deprecated in the future. So it soapfaultexception error reading xmlstreamreader may make more sense for you to switch to an alternative framework whose main focus is the development of RESTful web services. How NOT to do RESTful Web Services (2007 Jun) yash wardhan Ranch Hand Posts: 46 posted 7 years ago Hi Peer, Can you please point me to an article or tutorial of creating RESTFul web services which will have end to end steps of developing a sample application? I googled but didn't find anything helpful(may be I haven't searched it properly). It would be really nice if that application doesn't use any IDE or just eclipse. Thanks in advance Ulf Dittmer Rancher Posts: 42968 73 posted 7 years ago Not sure about articles, but the Jersey library Peer linked to comes with a number of examples, some of which are pretty basic. The "Get Started" section on its "Learn" page has a number of useful links to introductory material. No IDE is required, and the services can be deployed in a standard servlet container such as Tomcat. yash wardhan Ranch Hand Posts: 46 posted 7 years ago Thanks for Reply, Actually what I am trying to do is create the RESTFul web service. It is working fine from java http client. When tried to call it with j2me client it is working for GET but not for POST. One can easily make any HTTP SOAP request an error was discovered processing the <wsse:security> header using Postman by following these simple steps: 1. Give the SOAP endpoint as the error reading xmlstreamreader unexpected eof in prolog URL. If you are using a WSDL, then give the path to the WSDL as the URL. 2. Set the request method to https://coderanch.com/t/422682/Web-Services/java/RestFul-web-services-Axis POST. 3. Open the raw editor, and set the body type as "text/xml". 4. In the request body, give the SOAP Envelope, Header and Body tags as required. Start by giving the SOAP Envelope tag, which is necessary, and define all the namespaces. Give the SOAP header http://blog.getpostman.com/2014/08/22/making-soap-requests-using-postman/ and the body. The name of the SOAP method (operation) should be specified in the SOAP body. For example, for the WSDL operation "GetPostman" defined as -

First, let’s import our WSDL into our test tool of choice. I will be using SOAPUI (a free open source tool), but you can use whatever tool you like. In error reading xmlstreamreader SoapUI, click on ‘File\New soupUI project'. In the New soapUI project, enter the Project Name: AddNums, and for Initial WSDL/WADL enter: http://localhost/Webservice/DEMOAddNumbers.asmx?WSDL SoapUI should import the “AddThis” method under projects AddNums\DEMOAddNumbersSOAP. Double clicking on the AddThis ‘Request 1’ will show the following: *Remember -- the WSDL should include all the info needed to interact with a web service. That’s why soapUi was able to read in the WSDL and automatically generate a request with the correct inputs for you. Web Service Request/Response Our DEMOAddNumbers web service is the most typical kind, in that a requester (in this case our test tool) sends a request to the service and waits. The service then processes the request and sends a reply. Let’s see this in action: For our request, let’s do a positive test by sending the service valid values:
