To this point I have been able to do work at home and transfer files via a hard drive to and http://www.digitaltutors.com/forum/showthread.php?32110-Image-Plane-Error from the computers at school (.ma format) and have been able to view imported images. I have now just installed a purchased version of Maya 2009 on my laptop and have encountered continuing Mental Ray error messages like this one: ERROR, C:/Users/AER/Documents/maya/projects/default/sourceimages/character_side_600x.jpg: programming error; please fix I have four views open: one perspective, one orthogonal front, one orthogonal side, and one extra orthogonal front (no top image available, http://forums.cgsociety.org/archive/index.php?t-742037.html so selected this view twice just to fill the space). In the perspective view, instead of seeing the two intersecting images (of an image side view and its corresponding front view, which are matching line drawings turned into JPGs), I see an X of intersecting yellow lines inside a yellow frame. There are also some additional, larger planar frames far out to the sides of, and parallel to, the image planes. Each of these has what look like normals of some kind extending from them. When I turn off Cameras for that view, all that remains is the polygon work I've started (to re-create the image in 3D) and the grid plane. So I may have an incorrect camera setting of some kind, which to my knowledge I did not set. The other views have the corresponding yellow boxes with intersecting lines (for the respective images). I believe the images are actually loaded, because I can view their attributes, and the Alpha gain, etc., is the same as the way I set it for them before. Any idea what it is I can do to remedy this and get back to working on my modeling assignment? Thanks much. CGTalk Moderation03-15-2009, 10:09 PMThis thread

I' m a newbie (this is my second model) and I don't know how to create swatches. Can you please please help me? I tried to figure out how to do it using hypershade, but I just can' t get it right. :help: Without the swatches file I cannot load my jpegs on my scene...... snif...snof HEEEEEEELPPPPPPP....... David16-03-2011, 01:33 PMHi, Everything you need is in part0. You do not need the swatches, just the jpeg image planes. David TerryG16-03-2011, 01:47 PMClick, here, here and here, load jpgs to material. Cheers Terry vicks016-03-2011, 05:49 PMHi, my problem is that when I try to assign the jpeg on the lambert in hypershade, an output window appears telling me there is an error and cannot load image. This does not happen when I load images from the first tutorial I downloaded (the victorian house), where there is a swatches file in the zero folder. That's why I thought the swatches were the problem. :mstickle: But I was wrong......:D This is the what the output window gives me: mental ray for Maya 2010 ERROR, C:/Users/vicks/Desktop/New Folder/Builiding_Xray_top961x769.jpg: programming error; please fix Do you know how can I fix it? :inlove: TerryG17-03-2011, 01:03 AMIn hypershade, you have 1 Lambert, then click on File and load jpg. Now middle mouse click on File and drag onto Lambert. Your cursor turns to a little white fist, a drop down menu appears before you release the mouse button. Scroll down to colour. Hope that helps Terry Chirone17-03-2011, 02:55 AMvicks0: i've never seen that error, but I googled your error (obviously taking out the file path). have you tried saving it out as a different file format? like png or tga? this guy says that's what he did when he tried a jpg texture http://forums.cgsociety.org/archive/index.php/t-687756.html TerryG: it looks like you're modifying the default lambert shader. If you are then you should stop doing that. Remember that all new objects have that shader applied to it. If you want to put a different shader on then you should select Assign New Material... bullet196817-03-2011, 05:13 AMChirone is correct Terry...create a new lamber
