I tried recovery console without success. I tried install of XP to use the repair option there, but instead of getting the option to do a nondestructive repair/install of XP, it does not recognize the partition and instead I get: The following list shows the existing partitions and unpartitioned space on this computer. Use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to select an item in the list. - To set up Windows XP on the selected item, press ENTER - To create a partition in the unpartitioned space, press C - To delete the selected partition, press D" When I select the partition that has the xp installation and hit ENTER: I then get a screen that says:"Windows XP cannot recognize the parition you selected. Setup cannot install Windows XP on this partition. Hwever, you can go back to the previous screen, delete th partition, and then select the resulting unpartitioned space.
