Nlb "the Interface Is Misconfigured"
vote I want to create NLB cluster of two servers with roles CAS and HUB cluster ip address not added to tcpip properties Trunsport on both. This is needed for failover of OWA and SMTP access of internal servers and services.I have a problems on a step of assembling NLB.I have created an intercluster interface on both servers with dedicated subnet. After that I create an NLB on other (public) adapter of first node. After creating there is an error that interface must have second IP address same as virtual cluster IP. After i add secont IP in TCP settings of public interface server goes to reboot with unexpected error. After reboot Exchange looses connection with DNS and AD (I have checked, DNS servers and DCs recalls on ping).Error is:No DNS servers could be retrieved from network adapter 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000. Verify that the computer is connected to a network and that the Get-NetworkConnectionInfo cmdlet returns results. As a result Exchange does not work. What am I doing wrong? After review your log, node1 has been converged fine, I want to know which type of switch do you use for server, layer 3? Explanation: You can use either a layer 2 or 3 switch that is configured to be layer 2. The reason that we need a layer 2 switch is that NLB spoofs the switch into believing that all the nodes have the same MAC. So the switch sends all packets to all ports. Then the nodes decide which ones belong to each node. You can't spoof a layer 3 switch in this fashion -----------

We have two Windows 2008 R2 Servers located in a DMZ. They are not joined to a domain and reside in a workgroup named "PROXY". We would like to create a Network Load https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27849094/Create-a-NLB-cluster-between-two-Win2k8-R2-servers-in-a-workgroup.html Balancing cluster using the built-in feature in windows server (Network Load Balancing Manager). Both servers are provided with two physical NIC's and are not virtualized in any way. Server A: - NIC #1 is given a static IP (i.e 192.168.2.10) with gateway 192.168.2.1 and only provided with my ISP's DNS. - NIC #2 is left in DHCP mode. Server B: - NIC #1 is given a static IP (i.e 192.168.2.11) with gateway 192.168.2.1 and only provided with my ISP's DNS. - NIC #2 is left in DHCP mode. When I create a new cluster from Server A using the NLB Manager (logged in as local Admin) I add "ServerA" and choose to add NIC #2 to the cluster. I do not assign a dedicated IP. Finally I provide the IP for the cluster (i.e 192.168.2.100) and assign the full internet name (i.e cluster.domain.com). I select Unicast and finish the wizard using the default settings for port rules. I then get an error message saying "The inferface is misconfigures" and when i click the error message i ge
setup NLB) Thread Tools Display Modes Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 with two VM (how to setup NLB) NVVN Guest Posts: n/a 01-04-2010, 03:48 AM Hi I have Hyper-V server 2008 R2, two virtual servers (2008 R2 standard core) and one http://www.network-builders.com/hyper-v-server-2008-r2-two-vm-setup-nlb-t104539.html management station Win 7 for testing purposes. I am trying to setup NLB between two virtual servers. In virtual network manager I've setup two internal networks and asign them both to each virtual server. In both virtual servers installed NLB http://www.networksteve.com/forum/topic.php/NLB_Problem_on_Windows_Server_2008_R2/?TopicId=66996&Posts=4 and checked binding order with wmic nicconfig so that virtual internal nic public is first and for NLB is second in order. Also I put in registry value of 1 for IPEnableRouter in TCP IP Parameters in registry. When I run error reading NLB Manager at Win 7 to create NLB Cluster I am entering IP of public nic on node1 and choose NLB NIC to create cluster. After all is done I get info that Begin Configuration change and after that two errors: The interface is misconfigured Cluster IP address (CLUSTERIP) not added to TCPIP properties Dedicated IP address (NODE1NLBIP) not added to TCPIP properties The bind operation was successful but NLB is not responding to queries. Processing update 2 from "NLB Manager on error reading cluster Win7" Starting update... Going to bind NLB... Bind operation succeeded. Error reading cluster configuration Update failed with status code 0x8004100a. When I check at virtual server node 1 cmd I seed that now I have only public interface. After restarting virtual server there are two nic, public and NLB but NLB cluster does not work. NVVN Guest Posts: n/a 01-04-2010, 11:20 AM In article <(E-Mail Removed) >, http://www.network-builders.com/(E-Mail Removed) says... => The interface is misconfigured => The bind operation was successful but NLB is not responding to queries. Here is solution (did not tested yet). It seems that NLB interfaces must have MAC spoofing enabled. http://blogs.blackmarble.co.uk/blogs...9/09/21/guest- nlb-issues-on-hyper-v-windows-server-2008-r2.aspx « Re: Encapsulation in VPN | How to change metric for NIC on Core server » Thread Tools Show Printable Version Email this Page Display Modes Linear Mode Switch to Hybrid Mode Switch to Threaded Mode Posting Rules You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts BB code is On Smilies are On [IMG] code is On HTML code is OffTrackbacks are On Pingbacks are On Refbacks are Off Forum Rules Similar Threads Thread Thread Starter Forum Replies Last Post Two Servers, two desktops, two routers, one switch, need to network jmleach16 Windows Networking 4 05-09-2013 02:32 PM One router - Two networks, Two SSIDs,Two channels jeepers Wireless Internet 6 06-

It has something to do with mac spoofing so I suggest check the Nic Settings and check the MAC tables. For certain, the best method would be using NLB in IGMP Multicast mode. But "IGMP Multicast" is a switch-assisted method, which would require you to configure the switch. And that is total different story. You are currently using NLB in Unicast mode, which is a non-switch-assisted method, which requires no configuration onaswitch. Sounds easy. But thereare afew problems with it, like these: NLB in Unicast mode causes a well know issue called 'switch-flooding'.Some low-budget L3 switches do not support NLB in unicast mode.NLB in unicast mode is not supported on VMware. Multicast is required, unless you configure a work-around.Because the NLB nodes use the same unicast MAC Address (which causes switch-flooding); in some situation NLB members 'cannot' communicate. This is why a second NIC is required for communication. This is why you get a warning when you open NLB manager. Anyway. I don't know you scenario, b
