Jul 05, 2010 10:05 AM|mcr_subbu|LINK Hi all, I have registered keys in the registry for impersonation for my application (asp.net 2.0 running in IIS 7.0) My keys are created under "wow6432node" When I am trying to browse the web page it is giving "Error reading configuration information from the registry" error. I gave permissions for NETWORK SERVICE, MACHINE\ASPNET account and then did iisreset.I have read most of the threads and applied solutions. But still no luck. Is the encryption option applicable to asp.net 2.0? (It supports 1.1) Please help me in solving the issue. You should make sure the ASP.NET account running your app pool has appropriate access rights for expected registry key. If the access rights is insufficient, you can run RegEdit32.exe tool to grant permissions. Since you did not paste related code, I am not sure how your app read config files and what's actually included in your config files. Did you use Aspnet_setreg.exe utility to encrypt credentials and session state connection strings? If did, related sensitive info will be stored in registry. You can refer to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329290for more information.
