So the solution seems to be "DON'T UPGRADE to 8.4 if you are a Windows user" ? Besides, this may be out of place, but what happened to the excellent forum ? h

I tried everything in many different google search http://forums.enterprisedb.com/posts/list/1802.page listings for this error before I finally stumble on a post on holdemmanager forums where it said your computer name and username must be english and can't have a space in it. So obv mine had a space in it. This needs to be more prominent in the install FAQ so people don't waste more time with this. Sorry if this https://www.pokertracker.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=38608 is already posted somewhere, but I could not find anything about it with extensive forum searching, and I am a fairly technical user.Quoted from Sarek on HM forumsA) Is HM installed in default path? B) If you have Win7 (or Vista), consider the following:1) PC name must be in English and "in one word" - requires reboot after changing.2) The same for Windows user name. If not - create new Win user with EN name and reboot PC for this user when install Postgres. And he must have admin rights. After installation you can kill this new user - his mission is completed.3) Secondary logon service must be set to "Autostart".4) UAC = OFF5) Disable firewall and antivirus when installing Postgres and HM. Or uninstall them at all. 6) All installations must run "as admin" (by right-click on file). And do them as first thing after PC reboot.7) If you want to change install path for Postgres (or to set non-default folder for database cluster) - download "standalone" installation file from Download PostgreSQL | EnterpriseDB8) If your Windows is not

While Installing Postgres, Warning message thrown as "Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly. Error reading the C:/Program error reading Files/PostgreSQL/8.4/data/postgresql.conf" If I proceed the installation it turns out the data directory is completely empty. During the install, I did_not_ un-check the box asking if I wanted to "Install pl/pgsql in template1 database", so it should have been in there as well. I ran the installer while logged into the Administrator account. So absolutely no issue of Read/write access in "C:/Program Files/PostgreSQL/8.4/data/postgresql.conf" file. After few attempts, error reading file I was able to install without any issue in the same system with same user and the same directory path. So I want to know, what are the root causes for this issue. How to prevent this issue? Also if the issue happens, is there any manual procedure to populate the data (dictionary) folder? -- Sent via pgsql-bugs mailing list ([hidden email]) To make changes to your subscription: http://www.postgresql.org/mailpref/pgsql-bugs John R Pierce Reply | Threaded Open this post in threaded view ♦ ♦ | Report Content as Inappropriate ♦ ♦ Re: BUG #5653: Error reading the C:/Program Files/PostgreSQL/8.4/data/postgresql.conf" On 09/12/10 8:23 AM, Kesavan wrote: > PostgreSQL version: 8.4.0-1 > Operating system: Windows 8.4.0? thats rather old.... 8.4.4 is the current build of the 8.4 family, and the bug fixes listed in the release notes for each of the interrim versions (8.4.1, .2, .3, .4) are fairly long. and, "Windows" ? that describes a family of a dozen or more operating systems, maybe more if you consider the home vs professional variants, desktop vs server, and 32 vs 64 bit, etc etc. -- Sent via pgsql-bugs mailing list ([hidden email]) To
大 小 Posted by 唧唧 | tags: PostgreSQL 最近的项目需要用到PostgreSQL数据库了,有点新鲜,但是安装很是让我郁闷,换了几个目录都是安装报错(最后一步报错:Problem running post-install step.
