installation Modified on: Fri, 15 May, 2015 at 11:28 AM PROBLEM The following error is encountered either during installation, in the Product's Installation Log file, or in error reading file download Window's Event Logs: "Error 1305: Error reading from file..." Product Installation Logs microsoft visual foxpro error reading file can be located: VIPRE Home: %Temp%\VIPREInstall.log (or VIPREPremiumInstall) VIPRE Business: C:\ProgramData\GFI Software\Antimalware\logs\Agent-MSI.csv *** VIPRE Email Security: %Temp%\MSI*.log ENVIRONMENT foxpro error 1104 VIPRE Antivirus VIPRE Internet Security VIPRE Business VIPRE Business Premium VIPRE Email Security All Supported Environments SOLUTION This Error indicates a problem with Permissions regarding the referenced folder. The https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/299603 easiest way to fix a problem with these folders is to reset permissions on the directories in question. This can be done manually by comparing the permissions on the folder to another installation of Windows with the correct permissions set on the folder in question. An easier way of doing this would be to just reset the permissions to that https://support.threattracksecurity.com/support/solutions/articles/1000070797-msi-error-1305-error-reading-from-file-during-installation of the parent folder. A quick and easy tool can be used to achieve this:http://sunbelt-software.com/support/utils/inherit.exeDownload this application and place it on your desktop. You can then drag and drop the file or folder you intend to reset permissions on over the top of this application in order to reset the permissions for it.If done correctly, a prompt displaying the text OK will pop up. This indicates successful execution of the application. Folders that are particularly susceptible to permissions corruption are listed below.Windows XP: %UserProfile%\Application Data %UserProfile%\Application Data\GFI Software %UserProfile%\Application Data\GFI Software\Antimalware C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GFI Software C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GFI Software\Antimalware Windows Vista / 7 / 8: C:\ProgramData C:\ProgramData\GFI Software C:\ProgramData\GFI Software\Antimalware %UserProfile%\AppData\ %UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\ %UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\GFI Software %UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\GFI Software\Antimalware For Example; "C:\ProgramData\Downloaded Installations\{FA0F7527-B8F1-4541-22F7B7829518}\...\SBVIPRE_EN.msi"In this case, resetting the permissions for each folder is the best solution; starting with the C:\ProgramData folder first and working through the rest of the folders, attempting to install VIPRE again after the permissions of each folder have been successfully reset. CAUSE Permissions for these folders are often corrupte
accessing shared files. Microsoft recently updated articles linked to PRB: "Error reading file" Error Message on Windows 2000 Terminal Services http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;299603 so http://fox.wikis.com/wc.dll?Wiki~ErrorReadingFile that the registry edits are the recommended course of action. Our client is performing the edits today, we are all hoping this will resolve the issue. Dave Noal http://simplymaya.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39491 This may be fixed. Check out Q272127: "STATUS_UNEXPECTED_NETWORK_ERROR" Error Message This patch fixed it for us. Thanks! Microsoft is tracking the patch because it is not yet fully error reading regression tested. Also, they are not charging for the support call on this issue. (At least, they didn't charge us!) Christopher Olson The error "Error reading file" in general appears when the connection to the drive where Fox reads it's data (dbf, cdx, etc) fails. Ususally this happens on a network drive, since they are potential for error reading file disappearing; Depending on IMO the Client-version, this error is shown, or a Network error reading file (etc.) comes first and the Error reading file is not shown (use a simple Dos-machine, and you'll have this one). So much for the known stuff. For (WTS ?/) Citrix users this may happen when the connection from the TS-task (user-task within TS) gets disconnected, which Citrix does not report on, but the connection is disconnected explicitly. This can happen when not enough licences are present, and at "some time" Citrix (WTS ?) says : okay, you go now, first pay. In the end, again a normal Error reading file as described above, but just recognize it. This by the way, becomes even more fuzzy, knowing that implementing the new licences won't help, unless all of WTS and Citrix is re-installed from the beginning. Apart from everything, somewhere in the Client is re-connect functionality (may even be a param) which says : when somehow the connection with the server gets lost, re-conn
