replaced. Floppy disk drive users If you are experiencing this issue with a floppy diskette it is likely the diskette is bad, to determine this try another diskette. If another diskette works unfortunately the disk causing http://mycomputerfaq.blogspot.com/2013/01/what-is-error-reading-from-drive-ados.html this error is bad. However, if all diskettes are experiencing the same issue the floppy drive may be bad or not setup properly. See the basic floppy disk drive troubleshooting page for more information. Hard drive users If http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000101.htm you are experiencing this issue with a hard drive it is likely the drive itself is bad. You may be able to resolve this issue by running scandisk and having scandisk mark the sectors as bad. However, it is recommended that the drive be replaced as eventually it will go bad. I need some fast documentation on General Failure Error Reading Drive C Someone just sold a client of mine a system with a bad hard drive & I need to PROVE to the seller that the hard drive is bad You transported it you broke it! Not hardly Charlie Its a Seagate ST5250A & crapped out as soon as we got it to the clients. I should have taken my bag of tricks & run vendors error reading from diags in front of the seller. We have a bad hard drive. The system is 3 hours old. Scandisk marks bad sectors Vendor says scandisk in windows will find & fix any errors with the drive. I say you are wrong! Only the thorough scandisk tests the platens for physical errors. I need docs on that fast! If you get general failure on a reboot its a bad drive period case closed, now replace it I also say if it fails vendor diags the drive is bad. This is what happens when you buy used stuff! I have known my client for years. Its his first PC I wanted it just to go & go right BUT NO! Anyone got the fast docs that I can show this vendor? It will be fixed to my clients satisfaction. Period case closed Thanks again Im sorry, Im just so MAD!!! See More: Sector not found reading drive C Report • #1 DAVEINCAPS September 16, 2011 at 11:26:49 ✔ Best Answer"Sector not found reading drive C:" could be due to a bad drive or bad spot on the drive or maybe whatever application you're using is trying to access part of the drive that's not there or it can mean the drive isn't formatted or not properly set up in cmos/bios setup. So, what's the history of the drive? Is this a drive that previously was working in that computer or did you just hook it up to see what you could do with it? Report • #2 arjuntj September 17, 2011 at 06:49:22 I tried the same drive(USB Startup disc with DOS) by connecting to another PC and it was working fine. Report • #3 DAVEINCAPS September 17, 2011 at 13:53:29 It's giving that error for drive C: Is it connected as drive c:? Drive C: is usually the booting drive. If you swapped them then maybe it is C: . If not you probably have a problem with you OS drive.
