Are you using a buffered or non buffered jtag? sc0user, Sep 28, 2007 #3 eamo32 Regular member Joined: Apr 4, 2007 Messages: 601 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 26 You say you have "also tried jkeys", so I take it you were using SkyMax. Did you set the Adr Flash to 2Mb? Did you try to power on the box after the failed flash? It's a long time since I jtag'ged mine, but if I remember right, it told me it had failed, and it actually worked. I could of course be wrong about that, as I said, it was a long time ago. Having said that, the box is still working perfectly, for now. eamo32, Sep 28, 2007 #4 Weesol Member

Testing with the def file below: As soon as I start jkeys, I get "Error reading from IRD http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/jtag-help-please.587660/ (DCU peek)", which I think is normal (so I've read), and I carried on. Clicked OK and chose the IRD Model (STB_with_STi5517LWA); the M58LW032C flash comes up on top right field and I try to "Save Mem"; choose path file and upon clicking "Save" I get "Error reading from memory". Click OK, looks like http://www.avi-plus.com/repair-tips-forum/miscellaneous-software/others/sti5517-flash-dump.html it's reading but saved file is empty (0 bytes). Same procedure with wall.exe, either already running before jkeys or after, I get the same error... Thanks for your help. Quote: Originally Posted by YLG80 OK, let's go ! so wall doesn't even get that far. Maybe look into other jtag programs like ocdemon or usbjtag. If you can't find the flash it doesn't sound too promising. Probably why you http://www.rdi-board.com/archive/index.php/t-37325-p-5.html don't see any sc2005 flash dumps on the internet. Yeah it was just that the older version seems to want to re-scan every time i do a power cycle, that's all. I wanted to transfer the new http://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/home-video/115601.html version to the other box so it behaves a bit better and hey, if I learn something on the way...good luck. I had fun exploring embedded devices. I love electronics! It is disappointing that the stb manufacturers error reading have made it so hard to do a firmware upgrade. unlike other STB manufacturers that regularly have Firmware updates and enhancements available for their product. I hope that this has a negative impact on the sale of Coship STB's as the support is non-existent! Shame... Anyway slugworth, thanks a million. You were a great help. hope to speak soon if a new topic or interest comes to mind. First, this isnt an area where (from what I can gather) the subject has anything to do with keys, rather JTAG. :offtopic: Second, I'm sure that people don't quite appreciate gimmi, gimmi's, especially as it is your first post. :ban: Thirdly this thread is an english thread as it clearly states on top of this thread "RDI - English" :ooops: MM... slugworth27th May 2009, 03:59And it's a moot point since there isn't any coolsat 6100 rigged for telefonica. Well, this is a good place to find some links to what you need to get you going. First of all, don't believe that hacking (testing) Bev is cheap and reliable, it is not. Some testers spend more on gears than for their subscription. You must consider testing as a hobby and a challenge or you're not going to have fun. There are roughly six platforms (methods) for testing Bev. The most popular are Avr, Atmega, Emulation, Plastic and DVB cards. Below is a Pros and Cons for each platform. It's your choice to go with the platform that offers what you're looking for: ease of use, cost, or reliability. AVR The Avr is used in conjunction with your smart card. You simply put your smart card on or in the Avr and insert the combo in the receiver. Pros: Easiest platform and cheapest if you don't take into account the cost of your subscription. Cons: A susbscription is required (not required if the receiver has been subbed in the past). The Avr's older design makes it less flexible for future developments, but right now, it keeps on going.
