I get this message everytime I check my email and it just started about 3 days ago. I still get my email but this message pops up after I get my email. Uninstalled and reinstalled software with no change and cannot find anything in Eudora settings that might make any difference. Any Eudora users out there? I have attbi.com as my isp but they are changing to comcast.net Not sure if it is just a temporary problem with them messing about on there end or if this is a problem on my end. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Micro$oft Works - I Finally Understand the Definition of an Oxymoron. PMHi! - I've been hosted on FQ for a long time, but never have used these forums.... so I may be asking dumb questions in a dumb way, but... I created a new email address on Futurequest (new@my-domain), which forwards to my old one (old@my-domain), so that I could have specific people send mail to that address. And I created a "personality" in Eudora so that I could send from that address - so folks won't automatically click "reply" and send to my *old* address. And a filter in Eudora, to send the mail to a specific mailbox so http://discussions.virtualdr.com/showthread.php?137576-Eudora-5-2-1-Error-Reading-from-Network-Cause-Connection-Closed-by-Foreign-Host I won't miss it. I sent a test message to the new address, and it arrived. I sent another test from a different computer, using a different email account - and it arrived. I sent out two messages to the folks I need to reach (a *long* list) - and I've been getting some replies. So how come every time I check my email using my Eudora http://www.futurequest.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-17660.html program, I get the message "Logging into POP server: Error reading from network Cause: Connection closed by foreign host" ?? Can anyone help me figue out whether the problem is the way I set up the new@my-domain address on FQ, whether it has to do with the Personality on Eudora, or whether it's Comcast casing problems? Thanks! Marion Melissa08-07-2004, 03:25 PMHi Marion, Although I'm not personally familiar with Eudora, I would say to start by confirming all of your settings are correct: http://service.FutureQuest.net/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=93 (Please note that you would need to use the username for the POP account as you would not be able to directly access a forwarding alias account.) If you are still experiencing problems after verifying the settings are correct, with the message being given, I would suggest looking at the following guide to try to determine if your ISP is blocking access to port 110: http://service.FutureQuest.net/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=164 Let us know, Melissa Melissa08-07-2004, 03:31 PMAlso I would suggest checking for a firewall or anti-virus application (Norton comes to mind) that may possibly be interferring... Melissa08-07-2004, 03:40 PMOne more idea... Although this is more often seen with Outlook/Outlook Express, some email clients are known to choke when attempting to download

Everything was working great until this morning. I can receive mail but when I send mail it doesn't go and I get the following message. "Error reading from network. Cause: Connection closed by foreign host" I checked everything I think of and I don't know what the problem is. I have Eudora running on another PC and error reading I can send mail fine with the same mail settings so it looks like my trouble is machine specific. Does anyone have any ideas. Or is it just today? Is the other PC on the same ethernet connection (ISP)? CyberSmurf View Public Profile Visit CyberSmurf's homepage! This problem has gone away as of late this afternoon. I don't have a clue why is happened and why it fixed itself.
