If you are installing on Fedora 21, be aware that this is now end-of-life and will receive no further updates and security patches. with MySQL on CentOS (Step 1C) 3 posts Started 4 years ago by sixinco Latest reply from sixinco mysql No such file or directory step 1c sixinco Member Posted 4 years ago The installation guide on CentOS is great but when I have to check if MySQL starts when the system starts I get an error: # sudo chkconfig --list mysql -> error reading information on service mysql: No such file or directory So I tried installing the MySQL control script, but I cant do that either: # sudo cp /usr/share/mysql/mysql.server /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysql -> cp: cannot stat `/usr/share/mysql/mysql.server': No such file or directory I have MySQL installed via sudo yum ... (most was already installed) and that gave no errors, what can cause this/ whats wrong and how do I fix it. Felix Schwarz MediaDrop developer Posted 4 years ago Try: sudo chkconfig --list mysqld (note the "d" in mysqld) Btw: I hope you just installed the MySQL server from the CentOS repo as this one works fine and does not put an additional maintenance burden on you. sixinco Member Posted 4 years ago I do get the list with mysqld, and can set 345 on, but this line: sudo cp /usr/share/mysql/mysql.server /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysql wont do anything also with mysqld command But the database still is empty.
