If the DevicePath Value Name at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion is NOT a REG_EXPAND_SZ data type, you will experience this problem. To resolve this problem: 1. Use Regedt32 on Windows 2000, or Regedit on Windows XP, to navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion. 2. Double-click the DevicePath Value Name and copy the data to the clipboard. 3. Delete the DevicePath Value Name. 4. Add the DevicePath Value Name, as a REG_EXPAND_SZ data type, and paste the data value from the clipboard. 5. Press OK. 6. Exit the Registry Editor. 7. Or... does this means that unnatended values merged in the files cancel any possibility of upgrading/installing within Windows???I feel a little of FUD now...
