was..........ok, I'll be nice.........the gal next to me was trying to run a new profile on her storm sewer. She'd set her current alignment, she'd found the existing surface to use, then she tried to sample her surface. Here is the error she got - Current surface: use as existing 6-3-04 Group: SEWER MAIN 500 Section: 50452.801290 Error reading offpro_head from .vrt file. Press any key to continue... Finished. Starting station: 500+00 Ending station: 505+73.43 You have sampled profile for 573.43 feet of alignment. I've NEVER had that problem before, so I have no clue what it's trying to look for, besides the fact that it actually sampled her surface????????? Ideas anyone?????????!!!!!!!!!!!! :? VERYCIVILDRAFTER12-04-2005, 02:38 PMDoes http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-land-desktop/strange-error-when-creating-profile/td-p/2252004 your best friend's :P surface (use as existing 6-3-04) 'cover' the entire alignment length? Here's an odd question... How far is her alignment from 0,0? mom of 312-04-2005, 03:28 PMDoes your best friend's :P surface (use as existing 6-3-04) 'cover' the entire alignment length? no, she had to adjust it. I will also tell you that chicken wing is a HELL of a lot better than freaky cow woman was.......... Here's an odd question... How far is her http://www.cadeverything.com/help/archive/index.php/t-906.html alignment from 0,0? 8354.05 feet - why? VERYCIVILDRAFTER12-04-2005, 07:51 PM8354.05 feet - why? I'm running into problems with a project that we've inherited from an engineering firm that has some "issues". For some reason they set the drawing line work almost 700 miles from 0,0... The project is near Denver Colorado and that would literally put 0,0 near Barstow California. Anyway, that gargantuan of distance causes some really weird problems with LDD. csiarch13-04-2005, 02:28 AMKinda far away to see the marks on the stick, ain't it? If I encountered this issue, I would endeavor (or endeavour) to establish a local bench mark and work from there. To H--- with them if they can't take a joke. The Autodesk forums are full of topics dealing with this "far out" issue. The consensus is always the same; get closer to your work. Not on the same subject but I've run into this sort of thing in the archtiectural field (no pun intended) where someone reads something in the user manual and promptly misapplies it to a project out of context. mom of 313-04-2005, 02:55 PM700 MILES????????? ok, yeah, that's quite a difference, but it's only 8000+ feet, which still is excessive, but the area is quite large, so I can see the difference in feet on chicken wing's project. even if the surveyors use a common
