When I start my computer, I get an error message that reads: "Cannot Create Shell Notification System Icon" I dont know what is it, I think that has something to do with the icons on the toolbar, http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/error-reading-trayicon1-visible-cannot-create/3ca8839f-5c99-47ed-afd6-f82b97841ec3 in fact, when my computer starts with that message, quite icons in toolbar disappear. I tried to restore system and nothing happens, except that the all icons appear again, but when I restart the computer they disappear again. I have already pass all antivirus and all programs related to cleaning, everything Someone knows how to solve this problem? Are you missing any icons in the tray when you see this message? I solved this problem for a couple of programs by delaying their startup by a few seconds so that explorer (and my theming program) would be stable before the tray icon got added: Startup Delayer The tray icons caused a lot of problems in XP "Gold", but changes were made in their implementation in the SP's and most problems disappeared. One thing you could try is to put the installer in a Directory under the root drive. The drive needs to be local. Normally the error you get on 7 64 with a 32 bit program is not the error that you error reading tray are getting. Your error sounds like more of a Permissions problem. You may be able to try compatible mode, using a pif file. I have not used that software, but it should not be to hard to figure out. Can it be ran from a Command line ? In a Shell ? I may have to install in on my Win7 Pro debug machine, If you do not get it working. Just for test. But I think you can make it work, If you try a few tweaks. You can always boot the machine up from a XP live boot disk. It is older software, but looks like fun. If you don't know code and ever want to give it a go, this is the program, or even if you want to increase speed and learn under harsh simulated conditions, it can give you noise, low S/N, QRM. It's great software. AA9G, Feb 6, 2015 #7 KA9JLM Premium Subscriber QRZ Page AA9G said: ↑ Don, I re-installed it and installed it under C:\G4FON etc and that did the trick. Thanks!
