Remove From My Forums Asked by: Error reading xml xml parsing error word file Silverlight > Silverlight for Windows Phone Question 0 Sign in to vote xml error finder Hey! I am working on a small app for wp7, but ran into a small problem when reading my XML data file. http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IC58725 Here is the code: 1 WebClient xmlLoader = new WebClient();2 xmlLoader.DownloadStringCompleted += new DownloadStringCompletedEventHandler(xmlLoader_DownloadStringCompleted);3 xmlLoader.DownloadStringAsync(new Uri("Ticket_Data.xml",UriKind.Relative)); The problem is I get a "NullReferenceException was unhandled" error (on the xmlLoader.DownloadStringAsync line) when running it. It works if I load a XML from a URL, https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/silverlight/en-US/c902ca07-89d2-4a2d-8845-e319cdbbf263/error-reading-xml-file?forum=silverlightwinphone for example twitter, but not my local Ticket_Data.xml file. Do I need to do anything special to read a local XML file? Also tried the following: StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(System.Windows.Application.GetResourceStream(new Uri("Ticket_Data.xml", UriKind.Relative)).Stream); and setting the xml file to Resource. But still giving the same "NullReferenceException was unhandled" error. Thanks in advance! It should be placed where your xap is , as the relative path is taken with respect to your XAP. HTH. Plugin Author Steve Mortiboy @wpsmort 6 months, 1 week ago I don't see that error but I do see this error: This page contains the following errors: error on line 2 at column 6: XML declaration allowed only at the start of the document Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error. The cause of that error is a blank space before the opening PHP tags or after the closing PHP tags in one of the files on your site. This is a well known issue with XML code, if an invalid blank space is detected in a PHP file then you will get this error. You'll need to go through all your PHP files to try to find the invalid space. I recommend starting with the PHP files in your theme.
