I am modelling a lounge room with a couch, coffee table, tv etc. and I was just making some minor adjustments to parts

of the scene. However I didn't like the way it looked since the last time it saved so I just closed the scene without saving and re-opened it. But when I reopened the scene a window came up on the screen saying: 'Errors have occurred while reading this scene that may result in data loss. Please check the script editor for details.' The scene now looks completely destroyed/corrupted

(i'm not sure how to describe it). Parts of the model are still there, for instance 3 of the legs of the coffee table are still there, and half of the cabinet in which the tv was sitting on is still there but everything else has completely disappeared. It looks as if Maya has just selected parts of the models and deleted everything else, sorry I can't describe it any better because this has never happened to me before. In the script editor it says this: 'file -f -new; // untitled // commandPort -securityWarning -name commandportDefault; $gv_operationMode = "Open"; pv_performAction "/Users/Dylan/Desktop/Assessment 2/RemoteUV/New_Project/scenes/RemoteUV3.mb" "Best Guess"; file -f -options "v=0;p=17" -typ "mayaBinary" -o "/Users/Dylan/Desktop/Assessment 2/RemoteUV/New_Project/scenes/RemoteUV3.mb";addRecentFile("/Users/Dylan/Desktop/Assessment 2/RemoteUV/New_Project/scenes/RemoteUV3.mb", "mayaBinary"); requires "stereoCamera" "10.0"; // File read in 0 seconds. // Warning: Errors have occurred while reading this scene that may result in data loss. Hey, could someone please try and open this scene file. It is saved with Maya 2013 64bit. My maya will only load 99% then it just freezes, it's only a small mesh, but I don't have time to remake most of http://polycount.com/discussion/107622/urgant-fixing-a-maya-ma-file it https://dl.dropbox.com/u/63494571/University/VFX/Semester%201/Digital%20Presentation/mesh.ma 0 · Share on Twitter Replies Offline / Send Message NoisyMonk October 2012 https://forum.nvidia-arc.com/showthread.php?5292-Maya-File-Won-t-Re-open I can't help you out, don't have Maya. But maybe a few quick reminders if you haven't tried these already.. Have any auto backups around? Do you save your files in increments? Have you tried importing/merging this file into a new scene? Good luck, losing work always sucks. But learn from your mistakes if you can (ie, turn on auto-save error reading and save your files in increments). 0 · Share on TwitterThat's A Paddlin' Offline / Send Message martynball October 2012 Yeah, I have tried importing into a new scene, and I could not find the settings to turn on auto-save so never bothered (im new to Maya) Got afew OLD backups 0 · Share on Twitter Offline / Send Message Jason Young polycounter lvl 8 October 2012 I can open it fine with 2013 64bit. The error reading file main structural mesh is completely screwed, though, a total mess of geo. You need to start deleting history more often as it has a tooooooon of nodes. That will often times mess things up when trying to re-open a file. 0 · Share on Twittercharacter artist : portfolio : blog Offline / Send Message martynball October 2012 Would you export it as a FBX and email it to me? And where do I delete the history, ive been looking for that button. I will PM you my email. 0 · Share on Twitter Offline / Send Message kodde polycounter lvl 11 October 2012 +1 on JMYoung's suggestion. Delete history is essential when working with Maya. Especially before saving your scene upon closing Maya/New Scene/Opening another scene. So thank you for your wonderful product. I can tell I am going to use this all of the time. However, after I saved my file, I had trouble re-opening it. It is probably because I don't really know what I am doing. RB suggested I place the following text in my Maya envelope file, which got me up and running: "MAYA_ENABLE_HWR_CG_PROGRAMS is set to 1" As I understand it, this gets Maya to read cg textures, and that worked. So RB is the man. I mention it here only because I am now getting the following errors in my Maya Script Editor, and I don't know enough to tell if it is involved or not: file -f -options "v=0" -esn false -typ "mayaAscii" -o "C:/Users/The One/Documents/maya/Environments/Movie Scene/Movie_Project/scenes/Tree_01.ma";addRecentFile("C:/Users/The One/Documents/maya/Environments/Movie Scene/Movie_Project/scenes/Tree_01.ma", "mayaAscii"); // Error: 0 1.4155491739418812e-022 1.4012984643248171e-045 -1.#QNAN 0 0 1.1210387714598537e-044 -1.#QNAN // // Error: "C:/Users/The One/Documents/maya/Environments/Movie Scene/Movie_Project/scenes/Tree_01.ma" line 2125.57: Syntax error // // Error: -1.#QNAN 9.375 0 0.5 0 0 0 0.5 8.6314105779858096e-023 0 -1 1; // // Error: "C:/Users/The One/Documents/maya/Environments/Movie Scene/Movie_Project/scenes/Tree_01.ma" line 2128.7: Syntax error // // File read in 0 seconds. // // Warning: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: file10 // // Warning: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: fil
