SSLProxyEngine on # 7443 = zimbraMailSSLPort ProxyPass / https://machine.domain.com:7443">https://machine.domain.com:7443/ ProxyPassReverse / https://machine.domain.com:7443">https://machine.domain.com:7443/ ... This works, but from time to time, I get these errors in apache logs: [Thu Feb 21 12:09:01 2013] [error] [client a.b.c.d] (70007)The timeout specified has expired: proxy: error reading status line from remote server machine.domain.com [Thu Feb 21 12:09:01 2013] [error] [client a.b.c.d] proxy: Error reading from remote server returned by /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync I saw this thread: http://www.zimbra.com/forums/zimbra-mobile/13975-solved-zimbra-5-mobile-sync-using-ssl-apache-proxy-does-not-work.html and tried using: SetEnv force-proxy-request-1.0 1 SetEnv proxy-nokeepalive 1 but this does not work for me (the errors still occur). I want to get us to Apache 2.4.x so I setup a test box with latest 2.4 on it. I fixed the config file issues since 2.4 has changes in it. OWA proxy is working on my test server with Apache 2.4. But with 2.4 I do have an issue I https://www.apachelounge.com/viewtopic.php?t=5605 cannot figure out. Note that this does NOT occur with Apache 2.2. I get the following errors when using ActiveSync through reverse proxy: [Thu Oct 17 12:19:11.670665 2013] [proxy_http:error] [pid 748:tid 8440] (OS 10060)A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. : [client x.x.x.x:20311] AH01102: error reading status line from remote server mail.nameredacted.net:443 [Thu Oct 17 12:19:11.670665 2013] [proxy:error] [pid 748:tid 8440] [client x.x.x.x:20311] AH00898: Error reading from remote server returned by /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync So somehow with Apache 2.4 there is some sort of timeout that was not there with 2.2. Any ideas? For troubleshooting, you can use the pulldown and select "Do not verify". If that clears things up then it means you did not import the complete certificate chain properly into the NAM

I.e., https://demo.XXXXX.us is not responding. Have you verified that the you're proxying to is up? share|improve this answer answered Feb 6 '11 at 17:48 Andrew M. 8,17012021 I'm not too knowledgeable on this area, but if you are asking if server running demo.XXXXX.us is up, then yes. It is an intermittent error. –Kit Feb 6 '11 at 18:33 Do you have any sort of persistence monitoring? The backend server is definitely not able to be reached. I would setup pingdom/nagios/whatever to check to make sure that its up when you expect it. –Andrew M. Feb 6 '11 at 19:04 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote accepted Thank you for the responses.
