The problem is now that I still have to make sense of this error message, and construct an appropriate message to the end-user out of this data. If I windows error reporting disable windows 10 only have a string I have to parse it first to get a) the actual type of error and b) the object the error refers to. Imho, it would be much nicer to output an error object instead of a string. This object should contain: a) an error code (in form of a number or constant) b) the actual value where the error occured (as object, not path!) c) the part of the respective scheme (ditto) The main

difference would be that a developer receives the actual objects, not string values like "/properties/main/type" which have to be parsed first to get to the actual object. Owner geraintluff commented Jan 30, 2013 For (a): yes, that is a great idea. I totally agree with you. For (b) and (c) - the value on its own is often not useful, at least for the stuff I've been trying it with. If it fails due to an incorrect type, the value is often just something like true or 5, which isn't helpful if the data contains that value in more than one place. The string is a JSON Pointer path - given this path, finding the appropriate value from the data isn't too hard. It also has the advantage that if you do validation on a massive object and it fails on the first type-check, it doesn't hold a reference to that object from tv4.error until you validate something else. However, to make things more straightforward - how about methods of the error object that fetched the appropriate part of the data, and the appropriate parts of the schema? Like: var failData = tv4.error.getValue(originalValue); That way, the error doesn't hold a reference to the original data, but you could still easily retrieve the value. Would that do? alphanull commented Jan 30, 2013 Your are right, the value alone isn't too useful (b

| Basics of Software testing, Bug Defect tracking, Software Testing Templates | Last Updated: "August 25, 2016" This is the guest post from Vijay D (Coincidence with my name). Below sample bug/defect report will give you exact idea of how to report a bug in bug tracking tool. Here is the example scenario that caused a bug: Lets assume in your application under test you want to create a new user with user information, for that you need to logon into the application and navigate to USERS menu > New User, then enter all the details in the ‘User form’ like, First Name, Last Name, Age, Address, Phone etc. Once you enter all these information, you need to click on ‘SAVE’ button in order to save the user. Now you can see a success message saying, "New User has been created successfully". But when you entered into your application by logging in and navigated to USERS menu > New user, entered all the required information to create new user and clicked on SAVE button. BANG! The application crashed and you got one error page on screen. (Capture this error message window and save as a Microsoft paint file) Now this is the bug scenario and you would like to report this as a BUG in your bug-tracking tool. How will you report this bug effectively? Here is the sample bug report for above mentioned example: (Note that some ‘bug report' fields might differ depending on your bug tracking system) SAMPLE BUG REPORT: ------------ Bug Name: Application crash on clicking the SAVE button while creating a new user.
