Does it do the same when you try ini_set('error_reporting',0); ? –J A May 22 '12 at 23:34 2 Define "did not worked". –deceze May 22 '12 at 23:36 put 'phpinfo();' after that and check what the error settings are under 'core' –Sp4cecat May 22 '12 at 23:38 "I placed it into my website" WHERE did you place it? What file? –Paul Dessert May 22 '12 at 23:43 "It doesn't work" doesn't explain the problem enough. You need to elaborate on your input, expected and actual outcomes, or concretise error messages. In particular if you imply you still got error messages. And no, fatal/parsing errors cannot be trapped as that command would be executed afterwards. –mario May 22 '12 at 23:45 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 38 down vote Tried this yet? error_reporting(0); @ini_set('display_errors', 0); share|improve this answer answered May 22 '12 at 23:36 belgianguy 43135 add a comment| up vote 6 down vote Does this work? display_errors = Off Also, what version of php are you

I have followed different tutorials on how to do this but I keep getting read and open error messages. Is there something I am missing? I have tried the following in my php.ini file: ;Error display display_startup_errors = http://stackoverflow.com/questions/15949304/turn-off-display-error-php-ini Off display_errors = Off html_errors = Off docref_root = 0 docref_ext = 0 For some reason when I do a fileopen() call for a file which does not exist, I still get the error displayed. This is not safe for a live website, for obvious reasons. However it's a bad practice and you should catch the errors and do something with them instead of hiding via display_Errors –Royal Bg Apr 11 '13 at 12:54 I suggest running grep display_errors /path/to/php.ini to see if your line is getting overrided somewhere down the file. This is what was happening to me. –usandfriends Aug 21 '15 at 18:02 add a comment| 10 Answers 10 active oldest votes up vote 22 down vote accepted I always use something like this in a configuration file: // toggle this to change the setting define('DEBUG', true); // you want all errors to be triggered error_reporti

Still, errors are generally there for a reason - you'd presumably like to know when your cron script breaks! Try handling the errors gracefully. –ceejayoz Oct 29 '09 at 18:43 Somewhere related: stackoverflow.com/questions/4330494/… –trante Sep 7 '12 at 13:57 add a comment| 6 Answers 6 active oldest votes up vote 113 down vote accepted When you are sure your script is perfectly working, you can get rid of Warning and notices like this: Put this line at the beginning of your php script: error_reporting(E_ERROR); Before that, when working on your script, i would advise you to properly debug your script so that all notice or warning disappear one by one. So you should first set it as verbose as possible with: error_reporting(E_ERROR | E_WARNING | E_PARSE | E_NOTICE); UPDATE : how to log errors instead of displaying them As suggested in the comments, the better solution is to log errors into a file so only the php developer sees the error messages, not the users. A possible implementation is via the .htaccess file, useful if you don't have access to the php.ini file (source). # supress php errors php_flag display_startup_errors off php_flag display_errors off php_flag html_errors off php_value docref_root 0 php_value docref_ext 0 # enable P

Thanks. Sometime if you are working on some php code and fed up of Warnings or Notices in the browser then easy way out is to disable the settings in PHP.ini file. This is a configuration file which is loaded each time you start your PHP+Apache. It was doing everything it was supposed to but at the same time it was throwing errors and warning which doesn’t make sense and were harmful for the application. Here is the method to change the settings in PHP.ini file: Open PH.ini file. In this file search for the phrase “ error_reporting = E_ALL” ,[without inverted commas] Here replace this with “error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_WARNING “ (Show all errors, except for notices and coding standards warnings) Make sure you change the real enabled part of this , there are certain other examples given in the file. Restart your PHP + Apache Now, no warnings and messages will appear in the browser.
