Googling for it I found that placing the code mentioned below in the website stops http://php.net/manual/en/function.error-reporting.php the errors from getting displayed on the screen. I placed it into my website but it did not worked. Please help me out. Does it do the same when you try ini_set('error_reporting',0); ? –J A May 22 '12 at 23:34 2 Define "did not worked". –deceze May 22 '12 at 23:36 put 'phpinfo();' after that and check what the error settings are under 'core' –Sp4cecat May 22 '12 at 23:38 "I placed it into my website" WHERE did you place it? What file? –Paul Dessert May 22 '12 at 23:43 "It doesn't work" doesn't explain the problem enough. You need to elaborate on your input, expected and actual outcomes, or concretise error messages. In particular if you imply you still got error messages. And no, fatal/parsing errors cannot be trapped as that command would be executed afterwards. –mario May 22 '12 at 23:45 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 38 down vote Tried this yet? error_reporting(0); @ini_set('display_errors', 0); share|improve this answer answered May 22 '12 at 23:36 belgianguy 43135 add a comment| up vote 6 down vote Does this work? display_errors = Off Also, what version of php are you using? share|improve this answer answered May 22 '12 at 23:38 Jrom 548416 add a comment| up vote 5 down vote Read up on the confi

If you're using XAMPP just select "restart" in the manager app. –Mateusz Stawecki Apr 9 '15 at 13:54 1 I suggest running grep display_errors /path/to/php.ini to see if your line is getting overrided somewhere down the file. This is what was happening to me. –usandfriends Aug 21 '15 at 18:02 add a comment| 11 Answers 11 active oldest votes up vote 47 down vote accepted You can set display_errors to 0 or use the error_reporting() function. However, notices are annoying (I can partly sympathize) but they serve a purpose. You shouldn't be defining a constant twice, the second time won't work and the constant will remain unchanged! share|improve this answer answered May 19 '10 at 15:43 Pekka 웃 303k93697913 2 +1: I approve of mentioning that he should correct the errors, not turn off the reporting. And you did it in a gentler way than @Jonathan Kuhn :-) –Josh May 19 '10 at 16:06 1 No,seems this is a bug of php5.3,display_errors doesn't work as expected. –user198729 May 20 '10 at 11:17 @user can you show the php.ini entry please?

You should change also the error_reporting value if you don't want to have the messages informing you about the error. You should try this for all errors error_reporting = off or error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED this will keep letting you know about the errors but they will be invisible to other users.. share|improve this answer edited Jan 3 '13 at 2:08 answered Jan 2 '13 at 23:18 Jack 1065 Thanks but how do I change it within the php.ini file as opposed to
