I receive: "Error Retrieving Update Info File"? June 21st, 20121. The error
Spybot Update
message "Error retrieving update info file" usually appears when Spybot-S&D has spybot not updating accidently imported bad Internet Explorer proxy settings. In this case, it helps just to disable the spybot download proxy option in Spybot-S&D: Open the Settings section and go to the Settings page. Locate the Use proxy entry in the Automation - Web update category, and http://www.lavasoft.com/mylavasoft/company/blog/isperror-retrieving-updates-problem-solved disable it. If you cannot see the Settings section, start Spybot-S&D in advanced mode (see your Start menu group for Spybot-S&D). 2. Please check your firewall. Most people who do not have problem #1 do have Spybot-S&D accidentally blocked in their firewall. 3. If nothing else works, you can still use the manual updater, https://www.safer-networking.org/faq/why-do-i-receive-error-retrieving-update-info-file/ which is available on the website. (Notice: if the Info page does not show the correct update date after installing the updates with the manual updater, please ignore that - this will be fixed with the next release) FAQ Category: Spybot 1.6, Updates ← How can I contribute to the cause? Lavasoft Ad-Adware SE Personal 1.06 Started by price , Jun 20 2005 11:32 AM This topic is locked #1 price Posted 20 June 2005 - 11:32 AM price New Member Member 1 posts I downloaded Ad-aware SE Personal on Windows XP operating system. Everything downloaded fine. However, I'm thinking it was the Norton Internet Security prompted me a question and recommended blocking internet access and of course I CLICKED. Mistake, because now I can't retrieve definition file updates. When I click check for updates, It says error retrieving update!!!!!!!!! Please help me resolve this. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled. Same thing occurs. The root of the problem must be in the Norton Internet Security but I don't know how to fix this. Do you?
