The object [dmnShnatDegem].[Shnat Degem] was not found. ParameterName: UniqueName . Well, [Shant Degem] is the attribute that I try to set the default for. It is the key attribute and the only attribute on the dimension [dmnShnatDegem]. Also, UniqueName as set to true to that attribute. In any other aspect the dimention and the cubes works fine. I have seen it happand on SQL 2008 standard edition and on SQL Server 2008 R2 enterprize edition. It happand all the time. Given the complexity of getting a consistent repro in our lab, we think that this does not meet the bar for further investigation at this point.Regards,Cathy Dumas Posted by Microsoft on 3/31/2011 at 5:16 PM Hi,We are still did not reproduce the issue you describe but we found that the same error message comes in a couple of scenarios. I've created a test user and I want to give this test user re-only access to a cube and all of its dimensions. So, I created a Role as follows: General: Checked the Read Definition for database permissions Membership: users and groups set to Domain\Testuser Data Sources: (cube data source name), Access None, Read definition https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/517775/error-while-trying-to-choose-member-as-the-default-member (grayed and checked) Cubes: (cube name), Access Read, Local Cube/Drillthrough Drillthrough, Process (unchecked) Cell Data: all blank Dimensions: All database dimensions, Access Read, Read Definition (grayed and checked), Process (unchecked) Dimension Data: (default, all checked) Mining Structures: (default, all blank) The Testuser can browse the cube using Management Studio, no problem. This includes access to all dimension members and browing the member hierarchies (as http://www.dotnetspark.com/links/39893-dimension-browse-using-role-fails-with-error.aspx part of the cube). However, Testuser cannot browse the dimensions. The primary error is a blank pane saying that "the dimension does not contain hierarchies". So, I investigated. While logged on as Testuser, I looked at the properties of the Role as displayed in Management Studio. No suprises until I got to Dimension Data. Then, for each dimension, instead of the list of members and checkboxes in the main display pane, I saw "Error retrieving children: The '$dimensionname' object was not found. I have a SQL Server 2008 R2 release, and I built some cubes. I try to explain my issue:1) I created a cube with some indicators and 3 Dimensions:- TIME- CUSTOMER- PRODUCT2) I created a error retrieving children user hierarchy on PRODUCT dimension, including 3 levels3) I tested the hierarchy and it works, I can see it in BROWSE panel4) I created a first simple role (using Visual Studio) where I restrict visibility only on some months (ex: JAN-FEB-MAR), I tested and it works5) I created a second role (even using Visual Studio) where I try to restrict visibility on some branches of the PRODUCT hierarchy. Here I find my first issues:5a) I can't immediately see the hierarchy, but if I go to EDIT MDX I see the hierarchy and then if I come back to the main page I can see the hierarchy5b) When I select some nodes in EDIT MDX I receive the message: "The 'XXX' member unique name specified in the attribute permission is no longer valid. Do you want to remove it?"5c) I cleared MDX and I selected nodes and branches using the Hierarchy visualization on the BASIC panelNow, when I try to test the role I receive the following message:"Error occurred retrieving child nodes: the 'XXX' attribute in the 'XXX' dimension has a generated dimension security expressi

Hi, I have filled my member list (of parent/child hierarchy) using XML/A Discover method and the member unique names looked like this [dim name].[all member name].[member name]. When I tried to use the unique names in a MDX select statement I got the error "MDX object '...' not found in cube '...'". This error occure for every member, that have a parent. When I have changed the unique name from [dim name].[all member name].[member name] to [dim name].[all member name].[parent member name]. ... .[member name] then the MDX statement was executed without an error. I there a bug in the XML/A Discover method for parent/child hierarchy members (MDSCHEMA_MEMBERS) or in the MDX statement processing? Mondrian ought to be able to find a member of a parent-child hierarchy by name, without qualifying it with all of its ancestors. I think the problem exists both in the XML/A discover method and in resolving member names in queries. Can you log a bug for this? Some testcases involving the HR cube in the FoodMart schema would be helpful.
